This strategic move aims to unlock significant new revenue opportunities for CTV publishers by making ad creation and campaign setup more accessible and cost-effective for smaller brands.
NEW YORK – September 9, 2025 – Magnite (Nasdaq: MGNI), the world’s largest independent sell-side advertising company, today announced its acquisition of streamr.ai, a pioneering generative AI technology company. This acquisition is set to revolutionize Connected Television (CTV) advertising for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs), a sector identified as a substantial and growing revenue opportunity for CTV publishers. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Streamr.ai specializes in developing AI tools that significantly reduce the complexity and high costs traditionally associated with CTV advertising, making it more accessible for SMBs. Michael Barrett, CEO of Magnite, emphasized the importance of this acquisition, stating, “The CTV advertising opportunity for small businesses is enormous, but it’s been bottlenecked by complexity and high costs. streamr.ai’s technology uses AI to accelerate this transition for SMBs, making tasks like CTV creative generation and campaign setup much easier.”
Magnite plans to integrate streamr.ai’s innovative technology into its ecosystem, offering these advanced AI tools to its diverse network of partners. This includes agencies, retail media networks, publishers operating buyer marketplaces, and demand-side platforms (DSPs). The goal is to empower these partners to better serve their SMB clients, enabling them to tap into the premium content and brand-safe environments offered by CTV, which complements other digital marketing channels.
One of streamr.ai’s key capabilities is its ability to generate video advertisements and facilitate campaign setup on CTV platforms in less than two minutes, addressing a critical need for SMBs often challenged by the resources required for creative production and campaign management. Barrett added, “By offering these tools to our ecosystem partners with SMB clients, we aim to unlock a significant revenue opportunity for our CTV publishers. We’re thrilled to have the streamr.ai team join us, and we’ll continue to grow our AI expertise and capabilities across all Magnite products.”
Jonathan Moffie, CEO and co-founder of streamr.ai, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, “Magnite is the perfect home for our technology and talent. Magnite shares our vision for helping small businesses grow revenue through CTV advertising, and their relationships and resources will enable us to accelerate that process.” Moffie, along with CTO Frank Turano, will join Magnite. Moffie’s prior experience includes product leadership roles at Wurl (acquired by AppLovin), OrkaTV, Yahoo, and Shutterstock, while Turano previously served as an engineer at Shutterstock and Dotdash Meredith.
