TLDR: Lipscomb University has announced a pioneering campus-wide rollout of the BoodleBox AI platform, making it the first private, independent U.S. university to provide enterprise-level access to leading AI tools for all students, faculty, and staff. This initiative aims to enhance educational experiences, foster innovation, and prepare graduates for an AI-driven future.
Lipscomb University is setting a new precedent in higher education with the comprehensive implementation of the BoodleBox AI platform across its campus. This strategic move positions Lipscomb as the first private, independent university in the United States to offer enterprise-level access to advanced AI tools for its entire community, including students, faculty, and staff. The initiative, announced by BoodleBox CEO France Hoang, underscores a commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into the core of teaching, learning, and research.
The BoodleBox platform is specifically designed for higher education, providing a collaborative environment that enables structured engagement with various AI models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. Crucially, the platform adheres to stringent enterprise security standards, being both FERPA compliant and SOC 2 certified, ensuring data protection and responsible AI usage.
According to France Hoang, CEO of BoodleBox, “Lipscomb’s bold vision sets a new standard for preparing graduates to thrive in an AI-driven world.” This sentiment is echoed by Lipscomb’s leadership, who view AI as an integral part of the institution’s long-term identity. Provost Jennifer Shewmaker emphasized, “AI isn’t a peripheral topic; it’s integral to how we help [students] flourish in their future vocations. We’re not just adding tools, we’re reshaping the way we teach and learn to stay true to our calling in a time of transformation.” She further added, “Our approach is about using AI to enhance the very human art of teaching.”
Security and accessibility were paramount in the selection of BoodleBox, as highlighted by CIO Brett Hinson. “By providing secure, centralized access to the best AI tools available, we have the potential to greatly enhance efficiencies and productivity, protect our data and ensure that every member of our community can confidently engage with AI in their work, in the classroom and in their studies,” Hinson stated.
Lipscomb’s proactive approach to AI integration is evident in its established AI Committee, which has guided policy development and training initiatives. In summer 2025, the university released its official AI usage policy, emphasizing responsible application and data security. Comprehensive AI training for all faculty and staff is scheduled for August 2025, building on the experiences of an internal ‘super user’ group and approximately 200 faculty members who have already participated in pilot programs and training.

This campus-wide rollout complements Lipscomb’s existing advancements in AI education. In 2024, the university launched Nashville’s first graduate degree and certificate program in applied artificial intelligence, directed by Associate Dean Steve Nordstrom, designed to meet evolving workforce demands. The partnership with BoodleBox also includes access to Grammarly Business, further supporting writing and editing skills across the campus community. Student innovation is also flourishing, with examples like L.U.K.E. (Lipscomb University Kiosk Experience), an interactive touchscreen kiosk developed by senior software engineering major Justin T. Alexander, showcasing practical AI applications.
