TLDR: Legion, a new startup, has emerged from stealth with $38 million in seed and Series A funding to transform security operations. The company introduces a browser-native AI Security Operations Center (SOC) platform that learns and scales an organization’s unique workflows, aiming to combat the growing challenges faced by security teams.
NEW YORK CITY, NY – Legion, an innovative startup focused on cybersecurity, has officially emerged from stealth mode, announcing a significant $38 million in seed and Series A funding. This substantial investment, led by Coatue with participation from Accel and Picture Capital, is set to redefine security operations through its pioneering AI-powered platform. Angel investors from prominent tech companies including Google, Crowdstrike, and Wiz also contributed to the funding rounds.
Legion addresses a long-standing challenge in the cybersecurity landscape: the overwhelming volume of alerts and the persistent shortage of skilled security personnel. For over two decades, security teams have grappled with a widening gap between the number of alerts requiring investigation and their capacity to respond. Industry data indicates staffing shortages ranging from 26% to 45%, leading to immense pressure on existing teams. A recent survey highlighted that a staggering 71.6% of security researchers and analysts spend the majority of their time on alert triage, filtering false positives, and documenting cases, rather than engaging in deeper threat hunting or expertise development. This often results in frustration, burnout, and missed opportunities to bolster organizational defenses.
Legion’s solution is a browser-native AI Security Operations Center (SOC) platform. Unlike traditional AI-driven SOCs that often demand complex integrations and struggle to adapt to unique organizational environments, Legion’s platform is designed to learn directly from an organization’s in-house expertise and workflows. It operates as a browser extension AI SOC companion, observing team investigations, learning their patterns, and then automating these processes at scale without requiring extensive integrations or APIs.
Ely Abramovitch, co-founder and CEO of Legion, emphasized the company’s unique approach, stating, “Most AI-driven SOCs still require complex integrations, and even then, they fail to adapt to each organization’s unique environment, making them difficult for enterprise teams to fully trust. Legion is the first browser-based platform designed to scale your team’s best instincts into AI-driven workflows. It’s fully trained within your environment, by your team, for your team. Our goal is to turn your expertise into scalable automation.” He further added, “SOC teams are burning out, and the tools designed to help them are often just adding complexity. Our mission is simple: put human talent back at the center, and let AI do the grunt work.”
The company’s founders bring extensive backgrounds in enterprise security and advanced artificial intelligence, including experience from building Microsoft Sentinel and AI applications in both industry and academia. This expertise provided critical insights into the struggles faced by SOC operations, such as tool proliferation, process complexity, and talent shortages.

Early results from Legion’s implementation have been promising, with customers reporting up to a 90% reduction in investigation and response times. Some organizations have even been able to fully in-house their SOC operations with Legion, eliminating the need for external headcount. In other cases, Legion’s automation has provided the equivalent capacity of nine additional analysts without requiring new hires, demonstrating its potential to significantly enhance operational efficiency and alleviate the burden on human security teams.
