Latent-X: A Breakthrough Generative AI Model Revolutionizes Protein Binder Design with No-Code Accessibility

TLDR: Latent Labs has launched Latent-X, a cutting-edge generative AI model that enables ‘push-button’ protein binder design through a user-friendly, no-code web platform. This innovation significantly accelerates drug discovery by generating high-confidence protein binders with superior performance and hit rates compared to traditional methods, making advanced therapeutic design more accessible.

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO – Latent Labs today announced the official launch of Latent-X, a pioneering generative artificial intelligence model poised to transform the landscape of protein binder design. This frontier AI model is now accessible via Latent’s intuitive, web-based no-code platform, offering a ‘push-button’ solution for creating novel protein therapeutics.

Latent-X is engineered to generate lab-ready macrocycles and protein mini-binders with all-atom resolution, a critical capability for accelerating the drug design process. The platform allows users to upload specific protein targets and then generate, explore, and score binder designs directly within their browser, streamlining the selection of top-ranked structures for subsequent laboratory validation.

Extensive laboratory validation has demonstrated Latent-X’s superior performance, with results indicating picomolar binding affinities that significantly outperform existing models under identical conditions. The model boasts impressive hit rates, achieving 91-100% for macrocycles and 10-64% for mini-binders. This marks a substantial improvement over traditional drug discovery methods, where hit rates typically fall below 1% and each experiment can take months and incur thousands of dollars in costs.

Latent Labs highlights that Latent-X can achieve results that would conventionally require screening millions of candidates by testing as few as 30 candidates per target. This efficiency dramatically reduces the time, labor, and high failure rates historically associated with drug discovery.

“We envision a future where effective therapeutics can be designed with unprecedented speed and precision,” stated a representative from Latent Labs. The company aims to automate the often expensive and labor-intensive processes of drug discovery, leveraging generative AI to move beyond mere structure prediction to the creation of entirely new sequences and structures for candidate drugs.
