Kyndryl Establishes ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore to Drive Regional AI Adoption

TLDR: Kyndryl, a leading IT infrastructure services provider, has launched its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore. Announced on June 24, 2025, the lab aims to accelerate the adoption of responsible enterprise AI solutions across Southeast Asia. It will employ approximately 50 AI specialists and collaborate with partners like Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) to help businesses integrate AI capabilities and address the region’s significant AI readiness gap.

SINGAPORE – Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a prominent provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, officially announced the launch of its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore on June 24, 2025. This strategic move underscores Kyndryl’s commitment to fostering AI talent, driving innovation, and supporting national growth agendas across Southeast Asia, building on recent investments in the United Kingdom and France.

The new lab is designed to deliver responsible enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) solutions equipped with advanced security features throughout the ASEAN region, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. It will serve as a central hub, providing valuable expertise to meet the escalating regional demand for AI adoption.

Kyndryl’s ASEAN AI Innovation Lab will be staffed by approximately 50 local AI specialists, including data scientists, data engineers, and AI developers. These experts will guide organizations in understanding and implementing responsible AI technologies through practical use cases and live demonstrations.

The lab’s services will encompass advisory capabilities through Kyndryl Consult, assisting customers in adopting AI capabilities, merging diverse technologies, and applying software and platform engineering solutions. Furthermore, it will offer a co-creation experience via Kyndryl Vital, enabling clients to tackle complex, real-world business challenges using design-led thinking.

A key aspect of this initiative is Kyndryl’s collaboration with Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG). This partnership aims to accelerate AI transformation for Singapore-based companies through the AI Cloud Takeoff program, which is part of DISG’s broader Enterprise Compute Initiative. Google Cloud will provide essential tools such as Vertex AI and BigQuery to streamline AI development within the lab.

Andrew Lim, Managing Director, Kyndryl ASEAN and Korea, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating, “Our ASEAN AI Innovation Lab underscores Kyndryl’s long-term commitment to the region. Our experience in designing and delivering complex systems at scale gives us an advantage in implementing end-to-end AI solutions. By partnering with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), Google Cloud and other ecosystem players, we aim to scale trustworthy and high-impact AI solutions that enable businesses to move faster and smarter with responsible AI principles at the core.”

The establishment of this lab aligns with Singapore’s ambition to become a global AI leader by cultivating a technology-forward AI ecosystem. It also addresses a critical regional challenge: despite an estimated $60 billion AI opportunity in Southeast Asia, actual investment currently stands at only $1.7 billion, indicating substantial untapped potential. Kyndryl’s recent People Readiness Report 2025 highlighted a significant gap, revealing that while 95% of businesses have invested in AI, 71% of leaders feel their workforces are not yet ready to effectively leverage the technology. The lab aims to bridge this gap by focusing on workforce development, technology integration, and growth strategies, fostering AI talent, and building reusable assets and services to future-proof workforces and innovation efforts.
