Kuaishou’s Kling AI is at the forefront of a significant boom in generative AI applications, marked by the recent unveiling of multiple new features and substantial model upgrades. The company held its “From Vision to Screen” Model 2.0 Launch Event in Beijing on April 15, 2025, where it officially introduced the KLING 2.0 Video Generation Model and KOLORS 2.0 Image Generation Model globally. These foundational model upgrades aim to enhance image quality, improve prompt adherence, and introduce innovative functionalities to meet diverse user needs.
Since its launch in June 2024, Kling AI has undergone over 20 iterations, demonstrating a rapid development cycle. As of April 2025, its global user base has surpassed 22 million, with monthly active users growing 25-fold in ten months. The platform has already facilitated the generation of over 168 million videos and 344 million images. A key new feature, the Multi-Elements Editor, allows users to swap, add, or delete elements within existing videos using text or image inputs, offering greater creative freedom.
Kling AI’s impact extends beyond individual creators. Over 15,000 developers worldwide have integrated Kling’s Application Programming Interface (API) into a wide array of industry applications. Mr. Gai Kun, Senior Vice President of Kuaishou Technology and Head of the Community Science Department, stated that Kling AI “has consistently focused on improving the foundational capabilities of its models, enhancing image quality, and introducing innovative features to meet the diverse needs of its users,” emphasizing the tool’s goal to “empower everyone to tell compelling stories with AI.”
The financial performance of Kling AI also underscores the generative AI boom. Kuaishou disclosed that revenue from Kling surpassed RMB 100 million (approximately USD 14 million) as of February 2025. In April and May 2025 alone, it generated $14 million, putting it on track to hit $100 million in sales by February 2026. This growth signals a clear move towards monetization and highlights the exploding demand for AI-generated video content.
