KPMG Bolsters AI Trust Services with Enhanced Assurance Offerings for Responsible AI Deployment

TLDR: KPMG LLP has expanded its AI Trust Services by introducing new AI Assurance Capabilities. These offerings aim to help organizations ethically and responsibly scale generative AI and AI agents, addressing the critical need for robust risk assessment, validation, and independent assurance over AI systems amidst rapid technological adoption.

New York, New York – September 25, 2025 – KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax, and advisory firm, today announced a significant expansion of its AI Trust Services with the introduction of new AI Assurance Capabilities. This strategic move is designed to empower organizations to scale their adoption of generative AI (GenAI) and AI agents in an ethical and responsible manner, directly responding to the escalating demand for trustworthy AI systems in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Organizations are increasingly deploying AI agents across various business functions, which in turn necessitates more sophisticated approaches to AI model risk assessment, validation, and real-time system evaluations. The industry is also calling for formal, independent assurance over AI systems, aligned with established standards and frameworks, to effectively mitigate risks and foster trust in these advanced technologies.

Christian Peo, KPMG US Vice Chair, Audit, emphasized the critical role of AI in today’s business environment. “AI is the strategic difference maker amid business uncertainty and disruption, demanding the C-suite meet both goals of trust and speed. However, many companies are still at the earliest stages of understanding the opportunity and impacts of using this technology,” said Peo. He added, “Our AI assurance capabilities meet technology teams, management and boards where they are in their implementation journey, supporting their efforts to responsibly and ethically use AI and build, deploy and govern their AI systems.”

The newly announced offerings provide comprehensive assurance frameworks that extend beyond mere functionality. They are designed to monitor agent behavior, ensuring operations remain within established guardrails while simultaneously mitigating complex and compounded risks. These risks include potential security vulnerabilities, concerns over customer privacy, and the crucial accuracy of AI outputs. Ultimately, these AI assurance services are intended to instill confidence in an organization’s AI strategies.

Key services introduced today include:

AI Model Risk Assessments, Control Testing, and Quantitative Assessments: These services involve evaluating AI models through structured risk assessments, conducting design and control effectiveness reviews, and performing hands-on testing of AI systems using statistical and performance-based methodologies.

AI Model Validation: This specifically focuses on testing AI models for accuracy, the validity of underlying assumptions, and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

Real-time Systems Assessments (RTSA): These assessments are crucial for evaluating AI-related updates and system implementations to identify any changes that might impact financial reporting controls, thereby supporting audit compliance.

KPMG’s AI Trust services integrate the firm’s extensive capabilities across technology integration, financial controls, risk management, and quality controls. This integrated approach helps organizations navigate the complexities associated with AI intake, ensuring that AI systems are secure, compliant, and ethically sound.

Furthermore, KPMG is committed to a structured and focused approach in preparing its workforce for the responsible development and deployment of these advanced capabilities. The firm has prioritized the creation of a broad AI curriculum, with training programs specifically focused on GenAI, agentic AI, and the firm’s proprietary Ethics and Trusted AI Framework content. This initiative aims to equip partners and professionals to thrive in increasingly complex technology environments.

Rob Fisher, KPMG US and Global Vice Chair, Advisory, highlighted the importance of an integrated approach: “An integrated AI readiness and assurance approach empowers organizations to advance AI deployment with confidence.”
