Key Technology Updates: Salesforce’s AI-Driven Shifts, Zoom and Oracle’s Enhanced Customer Support, and Microsoft’s Cloud Expansion

TLDR: Salesforce is making significant moves into the IT service management (ITSM) market with its AI-powered Agentforce, leading to internal job reallocations and some layoffs. Meanwhile, Zoom and Oracle have forged a strategic alliance to deliver AI-enhanced customer support solutions. Microsoft is advancing its Teams Phone extensibility for Dynamics 365 Contact Center and is involved in plans for a massive AI data center. No significant news was found regarding Snapchat in the recent reports.

Recent developments across major technology companies like Salesforce, Zoom, Oracle, and Microsoft highlight a strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and customer experience (CX) innovation. These updates, primarily from early October 2025, indicate a transformative period for enterprise software and cloud infrastructure.

Salesforce’s Strategic Shift Towards AI and ITSM

Salesforce is making a notable entry into the IT service management (ITSM) market, with CEO Marc Benioff announcing this strategic move at Dreamforce 2025. The new ITSM solution will be built on Slack, aiming to help IT teams efficiently manage services across businesses, from application access to cloud storage.

A significant aspect of Salesforce’s AI integration is the deployment of its AI-powered Agentforce assistant, which has replaced the traditional search bar on the company’s online help pages. This shift has, however, met with criticism from users who are advocating for the return of the classic search functionality. The Agentforce platform has demonstrated considerable efficiency, leading to a decline in customer support cases. As a result, Salesforce has ceased actively backfilling support engineer roles and has redeployed hundreds of employees to other areas such as professional services, sales, and customer success. Despite these reallocations, Salesforce is also planning layoffs, with approximately 260 jobs in San Francisco and around 100 in Seattle expected to be cut, effective November 3, 2025.

Zoom and Oracle Forge AI-Powered Customer Support Alliance

Zoom Communications, Inc. and Oracle have announced a strategic alliance aimed at revolutionizing customer interaction through enhanced AI-powered customer support. This partnership enables Zoom’s customer experience platform, Zoom CX, to operate on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, significantly broadening its market reach. The collaboration is designed to deliver intelligent self-service options, streamline omnichannel interactions, and facilitate quicker resolutions for customers.

Further solidifying their partnership, Oracle selected Zoom Contact Center to power its own global customer service front-end operations, integrating it with Oracle Service workflows. Christine Sarros, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Engineering at Oracle, emphasized the synergy, stating, “Through our partnership with Zoom, we’re bringing together the power of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and applications with Zoom’s communication platform to give enterprises a foundation for AI-driven engagement.” Chris Morrissey, General Manager of Zoom CX, added, “Customers want more than a conversation – they want results.”

Microsoft’s Cloud and AI Infrastructure Expansion

Microsoft has announced the general availability of Teams Phone extensibility for its Dynamics 365 Contact Center. This integration extends the Contact Center to utilize the same voice platform as Microsoft Teams, thereby eliminating the need for a separate telephony system. This move is expected to simplify CCaaS platform deployments for organizations already using Teams and streamline the billing process.

In a broader infrastructure development, Nscale is planning a massive AI data center in Texas for Microsoft, as part of an expanded deal that includes 200,000 Nvidia chips. This underscores Microsoft’s significant investment and commitment to scaling its AI capabilities.
