TLDR: IQVIA, a global leader in clinical research and healthcare intelligence, has announced the launch of new custom-built AI agents in collaboration with NVIDIA. These agents are designed to accelerate drug discovery, streamline clinical trials, and enhance commercialization processes within the life sciences and healthcare sectors.
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – IQVIA has unveiled a new suite of custom-built AI agents developed in partnership with NVIDIA, a move set to revolutionize the life sciences and healthcare industries. Announced at the NVIDIA GTC Paris conference, these AI agents are designed to significantly enhance workflows and accelerate the generation of insights, ultimately bringing new therapies to patients faster.
The collaboration leverages NVIDIA’s advanced technology, including NVIDIA NIM Agent Blueprints for rapid development, NeMo Customizer for fine-tuning models, and NeMo Guardrails for safe deployment. This technological foundation allows IQVIA to create specialized ‘orchestrator agents’ that can manage and expedite complex processes in pharmaceutical development.
These AI agents will be applied across a range of critical use cases, such as target identification, clinical data review, literature analysis, market assessment, and healthcare professional (HCP) engagement. For instance, one agent can build a comprehensive knowledge base from research articles and biomedical databases to identify new opportunities for drug repurposing. Another agent is designed to streamline the clinical data review process by using automated checks to identify potential issues early on, a task that has traditionally been manual and time-consuming.
Bhavik Patel, president of IQVIA Commercial Solutions, stated, “This is a pivotal opportunity to deliver the precise, efficient workflows and insights required by the modern life sciences industry backed by deep industry expertise and powerful technology partnerships. Our collaboration with NVIDIA helps us realize our vision to power smarter healthcare for everyone, everywhere.”
Early results have shown that tasks that previously took weeks, such as literature triage or assessing site feasibility for clinical trials, can now be completed in a matter of hours or even minutes. This dramatic reduction in timelines is a significant step forward in a field where the clinical trial start-up process alone can often take around 200 days.
Kimberly Powell, vice president of healthcare at NVIDIA, commented on the collaboration, saying, “Working with industry leaders like IQVIA, we can build domain-specific agents that can demonstrate efficiency and precision.”

IQVIA’s new AI agents are built upon its ‘Healthcare-grade AI’ platform and are trained on the company’s extensive healthcare-specific data, which includes information from over one million HCPs and 700 million patient records. This ensures that the AI models are highly relevant and effective for the unique challenges of the life sciences sector. The strategic partnership between IQVIA and NVIDIA, initially announced in January, aims to build custom foundation models and agentic AI workflows to accelerate research, clinical development, and access to new treatments.
