This new discovery feature is designed to empower investors by helping them quickly explore prevailing market trends and pinpoint potential investment opportunities within the S&P 1500 universe.
The ‘Investment Themes’ tool is powered by Reflexivity, a technology firm that leverages its proprietary knowledge graph to map the intricate relationships between companies and their underlying business drivers. This advanced technology allows the tool to transform complex market data into clear, interactive insights, making the research process more intuitive and efficient for investors.
One of the key functionalities of the tool is its ability to allow users to begin their research with broad concepts, such as ‘Generative AI’ or ‘Nuclear Energy,’ and instantly view public companies directly tied to these themes. This eliminates the need for investors to know specific ticker symbols or conduct extensive prior research, streamlining the discovery of relevant investment ideas.
Steve Sanders, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Interactive Brokers, emphasized the tool’s transformative potential. “Investment Themes will help our clients turn raw relationship data into a narrative that they can trade on,” Sanders stated. The system encompasses approximately 500 real-world business areas and industry trends. Each company’s exposure to a particular theme is meticulously assessed through Reflexivity’s proprietary scoring system, which considers various factors including revenue exposure, strategic importance, and capital expenditures related to specific themes.

The tool is seamlessly integrated into Interactive Brokers’ existing trading platforms, with a dedicated ‘Investment Themes’ tab now available within the Fundamentals Explorer for S&P 1500 companies.
