New Delhi, India – The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has officially unveiled the logo and a series of transformative flagship initiatives for the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026. This landmark event, set to take place on February 19–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, aims to position India as a global hub for responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence. Notably, this will be the first time a Global South nation hosts such a prestigious AI summit.
The newly revealed logo is a profound blend of India’s rich heritage and its modern AI aspirations. It draws inspiration from the Ashoka Chakra, a revered symbol of ethical governance, justice, and India’s constitutional values. Radiating outward from the chakra are neural network flares, symbolizing the transformative power of AI to bridge linguistic, industrial, and geographical divides, thereby fostering inclusive digital progress. The logo, designed by Ajith P. Suresh, was selected from 599 entries through the MyGov contest and features a vibrant gradient representing innovation, diversity, and inclusivity.
Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who presided over the launch ceremony, highlighted the significant strides made by the IndiaAI Mission. “Our goal was to provide advanced compute facilities to a large number of students and researchers. We had targeted 10,000 GPUs, and today we are at 38,000 GPUs, which is remarkable progress,” he stated.
The summit will be guided by the core principles, or ‘Sutras,’ of People, Planet, and Progress. Discussions will further be centered around seven thematic ‘Chakras’: Human Capital, Inclusion, Safe & Trusted AI, Resilience, Science, Democratizing AI Resources, and Social Good. These themes underscore India’s commitment to people-centric AI development and its vision for AI as an impactful force for citizens, communities, and the planet.
Several key flagship initiatives were announced to bolster India’s AI ecosystem:
AI Infrastructure & Training: Under the IndiaAI Mission, 570 AI Data Labs are planned across the country to democratize technology access and empower students, researchers, and professionals in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The first 30 labs have already been launched, including 27 in partnership with NIELIT and three state-of-the-art facilities with Intel in Mokokchung, Mhow, and Mohali. These labs will provide foundational training in data annotation and curation.
IndiaAI Fellowship Program: This program has been expanded to support 13,500 scholars, including 8,000 undergraduates, 5,000 postgraduates, and 500 PhD researchers across diverse fields such as engineering, medicine, law, commerce, and liberal arts. A dedicated digital fellowship portal will streamline applications and mentorship.
IndiaAI Foundation Models: Eight indigenous foundational AI model initiatives have been launched, selected from over 500 proposals. These projects aim to develop domain-specific, multilingual AI models optimized for Indian languages and sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and governance.
The summit itself will feature a range of engaging events, including the ‘AI Pitch Fest (UDAAN)’ to showcase innovative AI startups from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, global innovation challenges for youth and women, a high-level research symposium, and an AI Expo with over 300 exhibitors from India and 30 countries.
