TLDR: A recent Global AI Sentiment Report by Booking.com highlights India as one of the most AI-positive nations, with 99% of consumers expressing excitement about artificial intelligence. While familiarity with AI is high at 96%, trust remains lower at 16%, and a significant majority (92%) have concerns. Despite this, 98% of Indians are keen to integrate AI into future travel planning, favoring AI assistants over traditional sources like travel bloggers.
India has emerged as a global frontrunner in its positive sentiment towards Artificial Intelligence, according to Booking.com’s Global AI Sentiment Report, released on July 29, 2025. The comprehensive report, which surveyed over 37,000 consumers across 33 markets, reveals that an overwhelming 99% of Indian consumers are excited about AI, with 96% reporting familiarity with the technology. This positions India among the most AI-positive countries worldwide.
Despite this widespread enthusiasm, the report uncovers a nuanced perspective on trust and autonomy. Only 16% of Indian consumers fully trust AI, and a significant 92% harbor at least one concern regarding its implications. Furthermore, while 36% of Indian consumers are comfortable with AI making decisions independently, a clear boundary exists, with most not ready to fully cede control to automation. Just 12% are comfortable with AI making decisions independently, while 25% are unsure, and 10% are very uncomfortable without human approval. This suggests a preference for AI as an enhancing tool rather than a replacement for human judgment.
The travel sector, in particular, shows a strong inclination towards AI adoption, with 98% of Indian consumers expressing a desire to use AI in their future travel planning. AI assistants are increasingly viewed as a trusted source (45%), surpassing travel bloggers (36%) and social media influencers (31%). Booking.com aims to leverage these insights to redefine how people search for, book, and experience travel, aligning with its mission to facilitate global exploration.
The report also segments consumers based on their AI sentiment, identifying almost half (46%) of Indian respondents as “AI Enthusiasts,” intrigued by AI’s potential, and 28% as “AI Advocates,” actively promoting its benefits and responsible adoption.
