TLDR: Incode, a leader in AI-driven identity and trust technologies, has acquired identity verification firm AuthenticID. This strategic move aims to create a unified, AI-first approach to combat the escalating threat of AI-powered fraud, including deepfakes and agentic AI. The acquisition combines Incode’s advanced AI solutions with AuthenticID’s extensive experience in high-volume, regulated environments, positioning the combined entity to deliver real-time, reliable identity verification.
In a significant development within the digital identity sector, Incode Technologies, a global leader in AI-driven identity and trust technologies, announced on August 20, 2025, its acquisition of AuthenticID, a prominent identity verification company. This strategic consolidation is poised to establish a formidable, AI-first defense against the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-powered fraud.
The acquisition is a direct response to the increasing sophistication of fraudulent activities, particularly those leveraging generative AI toolkits to synthesize photoreal faces and voices in real time. Such advanced threats have led to a staggering 300% year-over-year increase in account-opening fraud, as noted in a recent release. The combined expertise of Incode and AuthenticID aims to deliver innovative and proven technological solutions to counteract these challenges.
Ricardo Amper, founder and CEO of Incode, emphasized the critical nature of this merger, stating, ‘In the age of synthetic fraud, AI impersonation, and Agentic AI, verifying human identity has become the foundation of digital trust.’ He added, ‘Together with AuthenticID, we’re hardening the front line against these threats, so every enterprise can trust every interaction.’ Amper further highlighted that ‘Big AI challenges require big platforms built on proprietary technology and reinforced by real-world scale. You cannot stop modern identity attacks without both.’
The deal is strategically timed to capitalize on a digital identity market projected to reach an impressive $116 billion by 2027. The combined operational strength of Incode and AuthenticID is substantial; collectively, they processed over 4.1 billion identity checks in 2024. Their client base includes 8 of the 10 largest banks in the U.S. and 8 of the 9 biggest North American telecommunications companies, underscoring their deep reach into regulated, high-volume environments.
