Imo State Honored with Titans of Tech AI-Compliant State of the Year Award

Imo State has achieved a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey, clinching the prestigious “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Compliant State of the Year” award at the Titans of Tech Awards (TOTA) 2025. The ceremony, held in Lagos, saw Imo State emerge victorious over other contenders including Delta, Kebbi, and Oyo states, highlighting its leadership in leveraging technology for governance and public service.

Dr. Chimezie Amadi, the Commissioner for Digital Economy and e-Government, accepted the esteemed award on behalf of Governor Hope Uzodimma. Dr. Amadi expressed the state’s delight in consistently being recognized at the TOTA events, emphasizing that this particular award holds special significance as Nigeria increasingly embraces artificial intelligence. He stated that the recognition serves as both a reinforcement and endorsement of the state government’s ongoing efforts in technological advancement. “The award is both reinforcement and endorsement of what we have been doing. We are bullish on pushing for tech and adopting tech transformation in the state,” Dr. Amadi remarked, further adding that this accolade emboldens the state to continue its stride towards greater innovation in utilizing technology to enhance efficiency and create social value for its citizens.

According to the organizers, Technology Africa and TechTV, the award was bestowed upon Imo State in recognition of its “strategic adoption of artificial intelligence and commitment to digital innovation in governance and public service.” Don-Pedro Aganbi, President of TechTV Nigeria and convener of the event, lauded Imo State for its “bold and game-changing innovations in AI.” He specifically highlighted Imo’s strategic embrace of AI-driven solutions across various sectors, including governance, education, and public service delivery, as setting a benchmark for digital transformation within Nigeria. Aganbi further noted that this recognition underscores Imo’s burgeoning reputation as a hub for tech-driven progress and digital policy leadership in the nation.

The Titans of Tech Awards 2025 event, held at Oriental Hotels, Lekki, also honored Senator Ayodele Arise with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering contributions to Nigeria’s digital landscape, particularly in card technology, e-commerce infrastructure, data identity systems, and tech policy. The event was attended by notable personalities, including former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Wale Omole, and Senators Dayo Adeyeye and Iyiola Omisore.
