IITM Pravartak, the technology innovation hub of IIT Madras, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has partnered with global online education provider Emeritus to introduce a new Professional Certificate Programme in Agentic AI and Applications. This initiative, announced on September 2, 2025, is designed to address the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, moving beyond predictive models to intelligent systems capable of autonomous action .
Agentic AI is rapidly redefining how technology interacts with complex real-world scenarios. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 underscores the increasing demand for roles involving decision-making and problem-solving, particularly in AI development and data science, identifying them as among the most in-demand and fast-evolving skills globally . The Indian AI market itself is projected to grow at a rate of 25–35%, indicating a significant demand-supply gap for skilled professionals .
The five-month (20-week) program is tailored for AI professionals, product innovators, and domain specialists who seek to build intelligent, goal-oriented AI agents using state-of-the-art tools and frameworks . It offers a career-relevant, application-focused curriculum that combines rigorous instruction with hands-on practice . Participants will gain expertise in building functional AI agents using platforms like LangChain, CrewAI, and Flowise, developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and embedding memory and planning capabilities within intelligent systems . The curriculum also covers agent orchestration and deployment in real-world business contexts .

The program’s structured format includes live online sessions and self-paced learning, making it accessible for full-time professionals with minimal work disruption . It is also beginner-friendly, with foundational Python coding taught in the early months . Upon successful completion, participants will receive a verified certification from IITM Pravartak and three industry-recognized IBM certifications in AI Agent Building, Generative AI for Business, and Responsible AI . Additional benefits include career support services such as resume reviews, IIMJobs Pro membership, and networking access . An optional two-day campus immersion at the IITM Research Park is also available to enhance peer engagement and applied learning . The program fee is INR 1,15,000 + GST, and it requires graduates (10+2+3) from a recognized university in any discipline .
