TLDR: Humain, Saudi Arabia’s national AI company, is spearheading a significant AI revolution with a $10 billion joint venture with AMD to build a 6-gigawatt data infrastructure by 2034. This initiative, part of Vision 2030, aims to position Saudi Arabia as the world’s third-largest AI provider, offering cost-effective and advanced AI computing capabilities globally.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Humain, the Kingdom’s state-backed national artificial intelligence company, is aggressively advancing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals by embarking on a monumental 6-gigawatt data infrastructure project. This ambitious undertaking, a cornerstone of the nation’s strategy to diversify its economy and emerge as a global technology leader, is being realized through a $10 billion joint venture with the US AI infrastructure giant, AMD.
Launched in May 2025 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Humain AI is designed to cover the entire AI value chain, from constructing massive data centers and high-performance computing infrastructure to developing powerful AI models, particularly for the Arabic language, and delivering real-world AI solutions across critical sectors like healthcare, energy, and education.
The partnership with AMD, initially announced during a visit by US President Trump, targets an impressive 6 gigawatts (GW) of AI infrastructure capacity by 2034. This represents a significant increase from earlier projections, with an interim goal of 1.9 GW by 2030. The joint venture plans to bring 50 megawatts (MW) of capacity online by the end of 2025, with subsequent 50MW modules deployed every quarter thereafter. Construction is already underway on two large campuses, which will house 11 data centers, each boasting a 200-megawatt capacity.
Both Tareq Amin, CEO of Humain, and Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, have emphasized their commitment to reducing the total cost of ownership for AI developers by 30 percent. This cost-efficiency is expected to be achieved by leveraging Saudi Arabia’s abundant power resources and vast land availability. The data centers are slated to utilize AMD’s newly launched MI350 AI chips, unveiled at the Advancing AI 2025 event, with the MI400 series expected in 2026.
Humain’s strategic vision extends beyond national borders, aiming for a global impact. The joint venture plans to expand internationally, with the first overseas data center earmarked for the USA, serving sovereign, enterprise, and AI laboratory customers worldwide.
In an interview with CNBC’s Access Middle East, Tareq Amin articulated the Kingdom’s bold aspirations: “Our ambition is very clear. We want to be the third-largest AI provider in the world, behind the United States and China.” He further elaborated on the company’s investment philosophy, stating, “My investments are all strategic in nature. Any startup that is really addressing my number one requirement … the joint IP creation, the localization, workload consumptions in Saudi, is really where we’re going and investing capital in.”
