This major “AI glow-up” upgrade for the Celia AI assistant is anticipated to roll out in August 2025, promising a more intuitive and powerful user experience.
Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business, recently showcased the revamped Celia AI assistant, demonstrating its ability to perform complex tasks through simple voice commands. During a demonstration, Celia successfully booked a flight, purchased a Pura 80 Pro+ from the Huawei Mall, and initiated the download of a movie series from Huawei Video, all within minutes. These new functionalities highlight Celia’s enhanced ability to understand and execute multi-step requests, making daily operations more convenient for users.
The upgraded Celia AI assistant, powered by Harmony AI, is expected to be integrated with HarmonyOS 6.0 beta versions, suggesting a broader availability of these features across Huawei’s ecosystem. This move aligns with Huawei’s long-term strategy to build Celia into a “super assistant” based on its proprietary Pangu AI large model, integrating 5.5G network technology with smart AI features.
According to Cao Jibin, Senior Vice President of Huawei, the company aims to make Celia smarter and more efficient, fulfilling user needs in a much better way. “Huawei is the first company to introduce AI into smartphones. In the next step, we will build Celia into a super assistant based on the Pangu model, integrating the capabilities of 5G + AI to provide users with better devices,” Cao Jibin stated in an earlier announcement. This vision underscores Huawei’s commitment to leading in AI integration within the smartphone industry.
