Hedra Unveils Groundbreaking Live Avatars for Real-Time AI Interaction

TLDR: Hedra has officially launched its Live Avatars, a revolutionary real-time AI-driven avatar solution developed in partnership with LiveKit. This innovation promises to transform digital interactions by offering lifelike, highly flexible, and ultra-low latency avatars at an unprecedentedly affordable price point of just $0.05 per minute. Integrating seamlessly with leading AI models, Hedra Live Avatars are set to redefine applications across media, education, customer service, and gaming.

Hedra, a leading artificial intelligence platform, has announced the official launch of its highly anticipated Live Avatars, marking a significant leap forward in real-time AI-driven digital interactions. Unveiled on July 22, 2025, in collaboration with LiveKit, an open-source framework for real-time media application development, Hedra Live Avatars are poised to set a new industry standard for interactive AI characters.

These innovative avatars offer lifelike digital personas capable of ultra-low latency responses, operating with under 100 milliseconds of delay. This real-time responsiveness is crucial for dynamic environments such as live broadcasts, remote meetings, digital learning platforms, and immersive gaming experiences. The system leverages LiveKit’s robust global infrastructure to ensure seamless and instantaneous interactions.

Michael, CEO and founder of Hedra, emphasized the transformative potential of this release, stating, “We’ve entered the era of AI agents. Voice may be the interface, but video is the next unlock. Today, we’re launching Hedra Live Avatars, the most advanced streaming avatar model in the world.” He further elaborated on the evolution of AI interaction, noting, “Large language models have changed the world; we now have super smart computers that can do everything from coding to customer support. And in the last year, voice has emerged as a default interface for interacting with AI. We believe video is the next unlock for bringing even richer interactions with voice agents.”

A key differentiator for Hedra Live Avatars is their remarkable flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The platform integrates seamlessly with major large language models (LLMs) and text-to-speech (TTS) technologies, including those developed by Google, OpenAI, and advanced voice models like ElevenLabs 2.5 Flash. This compatibility allows users to configure highly customized avatars with diverse voice and language capabilities. Furthermore, the avatars are style-agnostic, meaning they can be generated from a single static image to produce photorealistic, animated, or even stylized and animal characters.

Russ, CEO and co-founder of LiveKit, highlighted the technical breakthrough and partnership synergy: “Generative video has historically been high latency and expensive. That’s why today we’re partnering with LiveKit, the leader in voice and video AI infrastructure, to launch Hedra Live Avatars. We’ve integrated Hedra Live Avatars into LiveKit’s agents framework; with a few lines of code, you can give any AI model a visual identity streaming over LiveKit’s global network with less than 100 milliseconds of latency.” He added, “We believe that the next wave of consumer and enterprise applications will leverage not just real-time voice, but real-time video, and we’re excited to partner with Hedra to help you build it.”

Perhaps one of the most compelling aspects of this launch is the pricing. Hedra Live Avatars are available at an unprecedented rate of just five cents per minute, making them up to 15 times cheaper than existing solutions. This accessible pricing model, with no annual contract or commitment, is designed to democratize sophisticated AI-driven avatar deployment for both small-scale users and large organizations, allowing them to focus budgets on user experience rather than server costs. The core of this system is Hedra’s proprietary Character-3 omnimodal model, which unifies video, audio, movement, and emotional expression into a single, cohesive framework.
