Mumbai, October 19, 2025 – HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector lender, has announced that its foray into artificial intelligence (AI) will not lead to any workforce reductions. This assurance comes directly from HDFC Bank Chief Executive and Managing Director, Sashidhar Jagdishan, who addressed the matter on Saturday.
Speaking on the bank’s technological advancements, Jagdishan stated, “Frankly, AI is not going (to result in) any layoff whatsoever in our bank, at least.” He further elaborated on the bank’s vision, emphasizing that AI presents a “massive opportunity to move people from the backend to the front end or to the technology end.”
