Hana Bank Integrates In-House Generative AI and Overhauls Mobile Web Platform

Hana Bank, a key subsidiary of Hana Financial Group, is spearheading digital transformation within the financial sector by announcing a complete overhaul of its mobile web platform and the integration of its own generative artificial intelligence (AI) into its employee support system. These strategic moves are part of Hana Financial Group’s broader commitment to enhancing customer service through advanced digital innovation, merging finance with cutting-edge technology.

The revamped mobile web platform features a home screen and functionalities that mirror the Hana 1Q mobile banking application. This design choice aims to significantly improve accessibility and readability, creating a seamless experience for users transitioning between the web and app environments. To further strengthen the synergy between its web and app services, Hana Bank has introduced exclusive content and products, such as ‘Playground,’ ‘Football PLAY,’ and ‘Sweet Hana,’ directly onto the mobile web’s home screen, which were previously unique to the Hana 1Q app.

In a significant stride towards internal operational efficiency, Hana Bank has fully deployed an in-house developed generative AI within its employee support platform, now known as the ‘Knowledge Chatbot.’ This advanced system adopts a conversational AI search feature format, similar to those utilized by leading global technology companies, promising an evolved employee experience and enhanced user satisfaction. The newly updated Knowledge Chatbot offers users the flexibility to choose between ‘AI mode’ and ‘Search mode.’ In AI mode, the generative AI is capable of compiling and analyzing vast amounts of work-related information, including regulatory documents, frequently asked questions (FAQs), internal posts, and electronic approval documents, to provide specific and accurate answers. The chatbot also retains existing convenient features such as guidance on required documents, financial calculators, real-time exchange rates, and a translator.

The integration of generative AI into the Knowledge Chatbot is expected to significantly boost employee productivity and overall operational efficiency by streamlining access to critical information and reducing the time spent on queries.

Beyond these initiatives, Hana Bank is also actively responding to the ongoing digitalization of finance with ‘Project FIRST.’ This next-generation computing system build-out project is designed to further strengthen customer experience and enhance non-face-to-face services.
