Hadamard AI, co-founded by brothers Nathaniel and Thomas Roberts, emerged as the top winner at the 2025 Genesis Pitch, an event organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador innovation hub Genesis. The company was awarded a total of $31,500, comprising a $30,000 prize for being named the Genesis Pitch Champion and an additional $1,500 from the Community Choice Award, voted on by the audience at the sold-out event. This significant funding will support Hadamard AI’s mission to develop advanced artificial intelligence tools designed to improve data processing and analytics capabilities for businesses.
The Genesis Pitch was a highlight of techNL’s Innovation Week, a province-wide celebration of entrepreneurship and technological growth. The event brought together five promising Newfoundland and Labrador startups competing for a total of $45,000 in prizes. Hadamard AI’s victory underscores its innovative contributions to the AI sector, following its earlier participation as one of the Atlantic Canadian ventures pitching at the Web Summit Vancouver.
Other notable participants and awardees at the Genesis Pitch included MedTemp, founded by Bradley Russell and Jamie Heath, which secured second place and a $10,000 prize for its digital platform connecting healthcare organizations with temporary medical professionals. The event also recognized leadership and inclusion within the innovation sector with two additional awards. The True Blue Award, sponsored by Bluedrop ISM, was presented to Adilya Dragan of Starluv Inc., a company focused on technology for emotional wellness and social connection. The Genesis Belonging Award, sponsored by the Fry Family Foundation, went to Ramy Abdulzaher of Bonocle, which develops assistive technology for individuals who are blind or have low vision.
