Great Learning Spearheads Pan-India Generative AI Upskilling Amidst Growing Industry Demand

TLDR: Great Learning is at the forefront of a nationwide initiative to enhance Generative AI skills among Indian youth and professionals. Recent reports from the edtech leader highlight a significant surge in optimism regarding AI’s career impact and a strong commitment from both individuals and organizations to invest in AI upskilling, with half of Indian employers aiming to train their workforce in GenAI by FY25.

Great Learning, a prominent global edtech company, is actively driving a comprehensive pan-India campaign focused on upskilling the nation’s workforce in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). This strategic push comes amidst a rapidly evolving job market where AI proficiency is becoming increasingly critical for career advancement and organizational growth.

According to Great Learning’s recently unveiled ‘Upskilling Trends Report 2025–26’, based on a survey of over 1,000 professionals across India, there’s a palpable sense of optimism surrounding AI’s influence on careers. A striking 78% of professionals maintain a positive outlook on AI’s impact, signaling a widespread acceptance and eagerness to adapt to technological advancements. The report also notes a significant rebound in job confidence, with 73% of professionals expressing confidence in retaining their jobs this year, an 11 percentage point increase from the previous year. This confidence is particularly pronounced among professionals in large firms and Tier-1 cities.

The commitment to continuous learning is also on the rise, with 85% of professionals acknowledging the importance of upskilling to future-proof their careers, up from 79% last year. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning consistently top the list of preferred areas for upskilling, followed by Software Development and Cybersecurity. There’s a noticeable trend towards shorter certificate programs over traditional Master’s degrees, driven by their cost-effectiveness and immediate applicability in the job market.

Hari Krishnan Nair, Co-Founder of Great Learning, emphasized the transformative nature of AI, stating, “AI is a transformative force reshaping the modern workplace. While it presents challenges, it also simultaneously opens doors for those who are ready and willing to learn and evolve.” This sentiment underscores the critical importance of continuous learning and adaptability in navigating the evolving job landscape.

Further solidifying the industry’s focus on GenAI, a recent survey conducted by Great Learning revealed that approximately 50% of organizations in India are looking to upskill their employees in Generative AI by the end of FY25. This survey, which included over 100 organizations with headcounts ranging from 10,000 to 15,000, highlights a strategic intent to expand GenAI training beyond traditional technical teams. Ritesh Malhotra, enterprise head at Great Learning, noted, “Enterprises intend to expand GenAI training beyond technical teams to include a broader range of roles.” This expansion includes crucial functions such as human resources, operations, marketing, and customer service, indicating a holistic approach to integrating GenAI across various organizational levels. The training encompasses foundational GenAI literacy for non-technical teams, strategic decision-making skills for senior leaders, and advanced technical training for core practitioners.
