Google has officially launched “Gemini for Government,” a new offering designed to provide US federal agencies with access to its advanced artificial intelligence capabilities at a remarkably low annual cost. Priced at less than $0.50 per agency per year, this strategic move positions Google as a key player in the government’s AI transformation efforts. The announcement was confirmed by Google CEO Sundar Pichai on the microblogging site X on August 21, 2025.

This initiative is a direct partnership with the General Services Administration (GSA) and aligns with the GSA’s OneGov Strategy and the President’s AI Action Plan. “Gemini for Government” is presented as a complete AI platform, extending beyond just the Gemini models. It encompasses a suite of Google’s AI-optimized and accredited commercial cloud services. Key features include Google-quality enterprise search, robust video and image generation capabilities, and the popular NotebookLM AI tool for research. The low pricing strategy is seen as a significant incentive to drive rapid adoption across federal departments, ensuring that American AI tools are readily available to optimize daily workflows and create a more responsive government for taxpayers. The GSA has expressed its appreciation for Google’s partnership, highlighting the importance of adding such a comprehensive AI solution to the OneGov strategy.
