The study underscores the growing demand for generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) integration into shopping experiences, with 71% of consumers expressing a desire for such advancements. This trend is particularly pronounced among Gen Z and Millennials, who are actively seeking hyper-personalization and seamless digital interactions.

The generative AI in e-commerce market is poised for substantial growth, with projections indicating a rise from USD 529.5 million in 2022 to approximately USD 2.1 billion by 2032, demonstrating a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.9% from 2023 to 2032. This growth is attributed to GenAI’s capacity to fundamentally reshape how businesses engage with customers and manage their operations.

Capgemini’s report delves into practical strategies for e-commerce organizations to implement GenAI. Key applications include personalizing customer experiences, generating dynamic promotions, creating diverse content, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. A notable finding is that more than 50% of consumers have already transitioned from traditional search engines to GenAI tools for product recommendations, signaling a rapid adoption of this technology.
