Former Partner Arrested in AI-Generated Obscenity Scandal Involving Influencer Archita Phukan

TLDR: Social media influencer Archita Phukan’s former partner, Pratim Bora, has been arrested by Assam Police for allegedly creating a fake online profile and circulating AI-generated obscene images and videos of her. Bora confessed to using old photos and AI tools to create the content out of emotional distress following their breakup. The case highlights the growing misuse of AI in cyber harassment.

Guwahati, Assam – In a significant development in a high-profile cyber harassment case, Assam Police have arrested Pratim Bora, the former partner of prominent social media influencer Archita Phukan, for allegedly creating a fake online profile and disseminating AI-generated obscene content featuring her. The arrest took place on Saturday evening, July 12, 2025, in Tinsukia, following an extensive investigation.

Archita Phukan, widely known as ‘Babydoll Archi’ across social media platforms, became the victim of a malicious campaign when explicit morphed images and videos, including those featuring her alongside American adult film actress Kendra Lust, began circulating widely. These fabricated visuals were posted from a fake social media account named ‘Babydoll Archi,’ which had amassed a substantial following of over 750,000, leading many, including mainstream media houses, to believe the content was genuine and that Phukan was entering the adult film industry.

The complaint was initially lodged by Phukan’s brother, prompting the Assam Police to launch an investigation. Pratim Bora, a resident of Tinsukia, had been absconding since the case surfaced but was successfully tracked down through meticulous IP address monitoring and phone surveillance. He was apprehended from a rented apartment in Tinsukia, and his mobile phone and laptop have been seized for forensic analysis.

During interrogation, Bora reportedly confessed to his actions, admitting that he sourced old photographs of Phukan from her public social media accounts and utilized editing tools and Artificial Intelligence to generate the fake, obscene content. Police officials stated that Bora’s motive stemmed from ‘anger’ and ’emotional frustration’ following the end of his relationship with the influencer. Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Sizal Agarwal revealed that Bora had also created a subscription-based webpage where he uploaded AI-generated pornographic content, allegedly earning around Rs 10 lakh through this illicit activity. SP Agarwal noted, ‘He did it mostly for personal reasons to cause harassment to the victim,’ adding that Phukan’s mental state has been severely affected and she will require counselling.

This arrest underscores the escalating dangers of AI misuse and digital tools in cases of cyberstalking and personal revenge, highlighting the urgent need for digital vigilance and robust legal frameworks to combat such crimes.
