Financial technology giant FIS (NYSE: FIS) has concluded its 12th annual InnovateIN48 competition, crowning Team Latent Space as the winner for their innovative AI-driven solution. The event, which was hosted in Bengaluru, India, centered on the theme “Transform Fintech Through the Power of AI” and brought together nearly 2,000 developers and engineers from 15 countries, forming 438 teams. The winning team, Latent Space, developed a solution designed to ensure software projects adhere to crucial internal and external AI guidelines, a project that impressed the judges with its potential to significantly improve AI compliance.
The competition highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in the financial industry. According to a recent FIS report, ‘The Harmony Gap: Finding the Financial Upside in Uncertainty’, 55% of companies are now investing in innovative solutions like generative AI and machine learning. The report also found that 78% of organizations that have integrated AI have seen measurable improvements in fraud detection and risk management.
However, challenges remain, with 73% of firms citing high implementation and maintenance costs as a barrier, and 64% struggling with a lack of in-house expertise. InnovateIN48 aimed to address this expertise gap by encouraging the development of early-stage prototypes and conceptual AI frameworks. Other notable projects developed during the competition included systems for automated code vulnerability detection, intelligent regulatory compliance checking, and AI-powered treasury operations.
