Finance of America Leverages AI to Revolutionize Reverse Mortgages, Tapping into Trillions in Home Equity

TLDR: Finance of America is spearheading a digital transformation powered by artificial intelligence to unlock an estimated $14 trillion in senior home equity through reverse mortgages. The company’s strategy focuses on streamlining customer experiences, empowering employees, and shifting perceptions of reverse mortgages as a mainstream retirement solution, supported by a major marketing campaign and strong Q2 2025 financial results.

Finance of America is embarking on an ambitious AI-driven digital transformation aimed at revolutionizing the reverse mortgage sector and unlocking the vast potential of home equity for retirees. The company’s Chief Information Officer, Brian Conneen, articulated this vision in a recent interview on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange with NYSE TV host Ashley Masterardi. Conneen emphasized a customer-centric approach to AI, designed to streamline client experiences, particularly for those in retirement, and empower employees to focus on value-added activities.

This strategic pivot positions Finance of America to mainstream home equity as a crucial retirement resource, targeting an estimated $14 trillion in senior home equity. The company’s Q2 2025 financial results, reported on August 5, 2025, show a basic earnings per share of $3.16, or $80 million in net income from continuing operations, alongside an adjusted earnings per share of $0.55, or $14 million in adjusted net income. The Retirement Solutions segment, which primarily generates revenue from reverse mortgage originations, continues to be a key driver. Additionally, Finance of America has entered into an agreement to repurchase Blackstone’s entire equity stake in the company.

According to details from Investing.com’s coverage of Finance of America’s Q2 2025 slides, the company is pursuing four strategic pillars: modernized messaging, attracting new borrowers, developing digital tools, and providing top-tier customer care. CEO Graham Fleming has consistently underscored the objective of making home equity a mainstream component of retirement planning.

Complementing these technological initiatives is a significant marketing campaign launched in April 2025, titled ‘A Better Way with FOA.’ This nationwide effort aims to reimagine reverse mortgages through relatable scenarios, addressing long-standing stigmas and targeting a market opportunity exceeding $10 trillion. The campaign portrays reverse mortgages as flexible alternatives for funding various retirement needs, such as medical expenses or home renovations.
