FDM Group and Northeastern University London Launch Comprehensive AI Roadshow

TLDR: FDM Group and Northeastern University London have partnered to host an AI roadshow throughout October 2025, featuring business and academic experts. The series aims to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on business and employment, covering topics from generative AI and ethical adoption to addressing the AI skills gap in the workforce.

FDM Group, a global leader in tech and business talent, has joined forces with Northeastern University London to inaugurate a significant AI roadshow this October. This collaborative initiative brings together prominent business and academic experts to delve into the profound implications of artificial intelligence across various sectors. The roadshow, designed to foster dialogue and understanding, aims to connect employers, students, and academics, facilitating discussions on the practical applications and future trajectory of AI.

The series commenced on October 1, 2025, with its inaugural session titled ‘Understanding AI: Beyond the Hype.’ Subsequent sessions are scheduled for October 8, 15, and 22, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of AI-related themes throughout the month. Key topics on the agenda include the power and potential of generative AI, the critical importance of responsible AI adoption, developing AI fluency and prompt engineering skills, and navigating the risks associated with deepfakes and misinformation.

Distinguished speakers and panelists from leading organizations are participating in the roadshow. These include representatives from AstraZeneca (Dr. David Freeborn, Gillian Magee), News UK Technology (Dr. Alice Helliwell, Amaritpal Singh Saini), Investec (Lee O’Brien), Sainsbury’s (Matt White), and Baringa (Naomi Bowman). Academic insights are provided by experts such as Professor Ioannis Votsis and Professor Brian Ball, alongside Chris Paterson, a Technology Risk Leader.

Sheila Flavell, COO of FDM Group, emphasized the crucial role of such collaborations, stating, “Collaboration between industry and education is fundamental to shaping the future of AI development. By working together, businesses and academic institutions can ensure AI is developed responsibly, ethically, and inclusively. Through initiatives like our AI talk series, we’re bringing thought leaders together to help organisations and individuals truly understand what AI means for their future and how to prepare for it through training.”

The roadshow also highlights the pressing need for upskilling in the AI domain. Recent findings from FDM Group’s ‘Workforce 2.0: AI Adoption and the Future of Jobs’ research indicate a significant gap in AI proficiency, with 58% of organizations reporting limited or early-stage understanding and application of AI. This data underscores the urgency of initiatives like the AI roadshow to equip the workforce with essential AI skills.
