Etsy Unveils Advanced AI Tools to Empower Sellers and Enhance Marketplace Experience

TLDR: Etsy has rolled out a new suite of optional AI-powered features designed to streamline seller workflows, improve buyer communication, and boost product discovery. These innovations include an AI-driven writing assistant for messages, intelligent listing suggestions, enhanced search capabilities, and AI-generated review highlights, all aimed at supporting creative entrepreneurs without compromising their unique voice or control.

Etsy, the global marketplace for unique and creative goods, has introduced a significant update to its seller tools, integrating advanced artificial intelligence to empower its community of artisans and entrepreneurs. The new features, described by Etsy as ‘responsible innovation,’ are designed to reduce repetitive tasks, enhance communication, and improve product visibility, ultimately helping sellers save time and increase sales.

Central to this rollout is an AI-powered writing assistant, currently in beta for select U.S. sellers, which drafts personalized responses to buyer messages. This tool leverages a shop’s existing information, such as item descriptions and past communications, to generate replies that mimic the seller’s unique voice. Sellers retain full control, with the ability to edit or disregard the AI-generated drafts. This initiative addresses a critical aspect of online sales: responsiveness. According to Etsy’s internal data, sellers who respond to pre-purchase buyer inquiries within two days achieve, on average, a 27% higher conversion rate. The company plans to expand this feature to more sellers in the future.

Further enhancing listing quality and discoverability, Etsy has introduced bulk AI-powered listing title and attribute suggestions. These recommendations are based on Etsy’s latest guidance, aiming to make listings clearer, more searchable, and more compelling for potential buyers. Sellers can access these suggestions in their Search Visibility dashboard, with real-time feedback to guide their edits.

Beyond seller-facing tools, Etsy is also leveraging AI to improve the buyer experience. The platform now features AI-enhanced search and image matching, leading to smarter search ranking and more relevant product recommendations. This overhaul of the search ranking system with generative AI is intended to connect sellers with more buyers by creating diverse and engaging recommendations. Kruti Goyal, Etsy’s Chief Growth Officer, noted that the company is ‘scoring items across a very broad range of interests and clustering them to capture nonobvious connections to encourage discovery.’

To build buyer confidence, Etsy is rolling out AI-generated review highlights. These summaries surface recurring themes from customer feedback, such as ‘fast shipping’ or ‘well made,’ helping shoppers make quicker and more informed purchasing decisions. Additionally, smarter, data-driven estimated delivery dates provide buyers with a clearer sense of when their orders will arrive, fostering greater trust at checkout.

Etsy emphasizes that these AI tools are entirely optional and built with the philosophy that technology should ’empower creative entrepreneurs, not replace them.’ Nick Daniel, Etsy’s Chief Product Officer, highlighted the company’s ‘hybrid approach to AI that keeps humans in the loop and ensures shoppers find what they need.’

In addition to the AI-powered features, Etsy has introduced other enhancements to the seller experience. These include a ‘Top Tasks’ feature in Shop Manager to help prioritize urgent actions, a ‘Marketplace Insights’ tool sharing buyer trends, and an updated Community Hub with AI-powered search for resources. The company also doubled its Etsy Purchase Protection coverage for the holiday season. These improvements are part of Etsy’s broader strategy to streamline shop management and boost seller success, especially as the platform reported a Q1 2025 revenue of $651 million and a take-rate of 23%. The reviews page in the Etsy Seller app now loads in just 55 milliseconds, further enhancing efficiency for sellers on the go.
