RUNCORN, United Kingdom – Epredia, a global leader in precision cancer diagnostics, has achieved significant recognition at the 2025 International Scanner Benchmark (ISB) Awards, presented by the Ecosystem for Pathology Diagnostics with AI Assistance (EMPAIA). The company’s E1000 Dx Digital Pathology Solution secured three awards, notably excelling in the ‘Quality’ category for digital images scanned with a 20x magnification objective, with native resolution reviewed by pathologists at 40x magnification, the highest level tested.
The ISB Awards, organized by EMPAIA, an international body dedicated to advancing validated AI solutions in clinical practice, celebrate excellence in the quality, throughput, and design of digital slide scanning technology for pathology. The E1000 Dx is a sophisticated system comprising a high-speed, automated, whole-slide imaging digital scanner, a medical-grade viewer, and advanced image management and viewer software. It is capable of generating high-resolution digital images of up to 1,500 tissue samples daily, significantly enhancing laboratory throughput and efficiency through technological advancements in sample detection and quality control procedures. This capability is poised to make diagnostics more efficient and accurate.
EMPAIA’s mission includes supporting the regulatory, legal, technical, and organizational frameworks necessary for the adoption of validated and certified AI solutions. Through the ISB, the organization aims to identify leading image-based diagnostics technologies within the pathology industry, recognizing their crucial role in providing detailed digital images that serve as essential inputs for prospective AI-powered diagnostics.
Steven Lynum, President of Epredia, emphasized the transformative potential of digital pathology, stating, “Digital pathology is the future of cancer diagnostics.” The E1000 Dx builds upon technology originally developed by 3DHISTECH, a key commercial partner of Epredia and a prominent pathology and diagnostics company. 3DHISTECH also received top honors in the ISB for its Pannoramic 480 Dx digital slide scanner, recognized for its high throughput at 20x magnification and technical capabilities. Epredia acts as a distributor for the entire 3DHISTECH digital pathology portfolio, including the award-winning Pannoramic 480 Dx.
