EdgeCortix Secures Initial Series B Funding, Reaching Nearly $100 Million in Total Capital

TOKYO – EdgeCortix Inc., a pioneering fabless semiconductor company specializing in energy-efficient artificial intelligence (AI) processing at the edge, announced today the successful initial close of its Series B funding round. This significant milestone elevates EdgeCortix’s total cumulative funding, encompassing both equity investments and substantial non-dilutive government awards secured since December 2024, to an impressive sum nearing $100 million USD. This achievement underscores the company’s rapid growth trajectory and expanding global market footprint.

The Series B round garnered considerable interest from a diverse group of prominent global investors, reflecting strong confidence in EdgeCortix’s innovative AI technologies, strategic leadership, and robust customer engagement. New investors participating in this initial close include Yanmar Ventures, Pacific Bays Capital, NTT Finance Corporation, SiC Power, and Aero X Ventures. Furthermore, the company continues to receive steadfast support from its existing investors, including SBI Investments and Global Hands-On VC (GHOVC).

The newly secured capital is earmarked to fuel EdgeCortix’s continued expansion and innovation efforts. A primary focus will be to accelerate the mass production and commercialization of its high-performance, energy-efficient AI accelerator, the SAKURA-Ⅱ platform. Additionally, the funding will advance the development and subsequent roll-out of its next-generation chiplet-based platform, SAKURA-X.

EdgeCortix’s platforms are engineered to support a wide array of demanding AI applications, ranging from advanced computer vision to complex multi-modal and multi-model Generative AI workloads. These solutions are purpose-built for rapidly expanding edge AI markets, including critical sectors such as robotics, industrial automation, defense, aerospace, space exploration, smart cities, Industry 4.0, and telecommunications.
