Ecovacs and Alibaba Cloud Forge Comprehensive AI Alliance, Bringing Qwen Voice Control to Deebot Vacuums

TLDR: Chinese home robotics leader Ecovacs has announced a full-stack AI partnership with Alibaba Cloud, integrating Alibaba’s Qwen large language models into its Deebot robot vacuums for enhanced direct voice control. The collaboration extends to compute, on-device AI deployment, and joint vision-language model development, aiming to advance embodied intelligence and streamline Ecovacs’ internal operations across various departments.

Ecovacs, a prominent Chinese manufacturer of home robotics, has officially entered into a comprehensive full-stack artificial intelligence (AI) partnership with Alibaba Cloud. Announced on September 28, 2025, this strategic alliance is set to revolutionize the capabilities of Ecovacs’ popular Deebot robot vacuums by integrating Alibaba’s advanced Qwen large language models (LLMs) for direct voice control. The collaboration signifies a major step towards enhancing ’embodied intelligence’ – AI systems designed to perceive and interact with the physical world.

The partnership encompasses several critical areas, including compute infrastructure, on-device AI model deployment, and collaborative development of vision-language models (VLMs). This full-stack approach aims to leverage Alibaba Cloud’s robust AI capabilities across Ecovacs’ entire product ecosystem and internal operations.

For Deebot robot vacuums, the integration of Qwen models will enable more intuitive and direct voice control. Ecovacs plans to deploy different sizes of Qwen models, specifically 0.7B, 1.5B, and 7B parameters, for tasks such as intent recognition and local command execution. Larger Qwen models will handle more complex requests and facilitate multi-turn dialogues, providing a more natural and sophisticated user experience.

Beyond consumer-facing features, Ecovacs intends to utilize Qwen 3 and its extensive enterprise knowledge to develop specialized domain-specific models and AI agents. These internal applications will span critical functions such like research and development, manufacturing, supply chain management, sales, and customer service, with the goal of significantly improving operational efficiency and fostering seamless collaboration within the company.

The two technology giants have a history of collaboration dating back to 2016, underscoring a long-standing relationship that now culminates in this expansive AI initiative. Ecovacs, with 27 years of focus on floor-care, boasts the industry’s only fully integrated household service-robotics product line and supply chain globally. The company has maintained its leadership in China’s domestic robot-vacuum market for a decade, with over 42% of its revenue generated from overseas markets including the U.S., Europe, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Southeast Asia, collectively serving 38 million households worldwide.
