On Saturday, September 20, 2025, a significant workshop titled “AI in Journalism” was conducted in Gulshan, Dhaka, to empower journalists with the essential skills for leveraging artificial intelligence in their newsroom operations. The event, a collaborative effort between the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB) and the Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Network (BIN), took place at the BIN office.
The workshop provided attendees with practical, hands-on training in the latest AI tools designed for news editing, content creation, and multimedia integration. This initiative underscores the rapidly evolving landscape of journalism, where technological proficiency is becoming increasingly crucial.
Ariful Islam Arman, Head of New Media Initiative at Dhaka Post, served as the lead trainer for the session, guiding journalists through the intricacies of AI applications in media.
Mohammad Kawsar Uddin, President of TMGB, welcomed the participants, describing the training as “a timely initiative for journalists.” He extended his gratitude to BIN for their organizational efforts, highlighting the importance of such programs in the current media environment.
Syed Almas Kabir, Chairman of the BIN Trust and former President of BASIS, emphasized the growing demand for technology-driven expertise within the industry. “This is the era of information technology. Academic degrees alone do not make someone skilled—technology-based expertise is now the key,” Kabir stated, underscoring the shift in professional requirements.
Kabir also announced that the “Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Awards 2025” would soon be launched. This upcoming initiative aims to showcase homegrown innovations, tech enterprises, and creative projects on both national and global platforms, with winners slated for nomination in international competitions.
