Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone has made history by becoming the first Indian celebrity to integrate her voice with Meta AI, marking a significant step in the tech giant’s global expansion and localization efforts. As of October 16, 2025, users across six countries—India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand—can now interact with Meta AI using Padukone’s distinctive voice. This integration extends to various Meta platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and the meta.ai website, as well as the innovative Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
Padukone joins an exclusive roster of international celebrities, such as Awkwafina and Judi Dench, who have lent their voices to Meta AI, aiming to create a more personalized and engaging user experience. The announcement was made by Padukone herself through a video shared on Instagram from Meta’s dubbing studio on October 15, where she expressed her excitement about being part of the Meta AI family.
Beyond the celebrity voice integration, Meta is rolling out several India-specific enhancements to its AI offerings. These include full Hindi language support, developed in collaboration with India’s homegrown AI model developer Sarvam, and the introduction of UPI Lite payments directly through Ray-Ban Meta glasses. These features are designed to bridge language gaps and facilitate seamless, contactless transactions, making the AI assistant more accessible and relevant to millions of Indian users.
Deepika Padukone’s collaboration with Meta AI comes at a time when the misuse of AI-generated deepfakes and the protection of personality rights are significant concerns for film stars and musicians in India. Her involvement highlights a positive application of AI technology in the entertainment sector.
