BUDAPEST, Hungary – Datapao, a prominent European data and AI consultancy, announced on July 24, 2025, that it has secured a strategic investment from Databricks, a leading data and AI company, and Euroventures, a notable European growth investor. This significant funding is poised to accelerate Datapao’s rapid expansion and enhance its capabilities in helping enterprises operationalize generative AI (GenAI) through advanced data platforms, production-grade implementations, and workforce enablement.
The investment comes at a crucial time when many companies, despite growing interest in generative and agentic AI, face substantial challenges in scaling AI initiatives from pilot projects to real-world impact. Industry research highlights persistent barriers that Datapao aims to address. For instance, a 2025 BCG survey revealed that while 72% of employees use AI, usage drops significantly among frontline teams, and most companies have yet to redesign workflows around AI. Furthermore, Qlik reports that only 11% of businesses achieve measurable returns from AI, with 44% citing data silos and poor integration as key blockers. Even among GenAI leaders, a recent Databricks–Economist Impact study indicated that although 85% of enterprises use GenAI, only 37% consider their applications production-ready, a figure that drops to 29% among practitioners who identify cost, skills shortages, and governance as primary hurdles.
Founded in 2016, Datapao was established to tackle these very challenges. Its founding team, comprised of experienced engineers and educators, identified a recurring execution gap where promising AI concepts were undermined by fragmented data, fragile infrastructure, and insufficiently skilled teams. With this new investment, Datapao plans to expand its consulting services, particularly in regulated industries, accelerate Databricks migration programs to help customers integrate missing data for AI use-cases, and launch a new wave of GenAI-focused upskilling programs.
