TLDR: Datadog announced a significant 28% year-over-year increase in its second-quarter 2025 revenue, reaching $827 million, surpassing analyst expectations. The strong performance was largely attributed to robust demand for its cloud monitoring services, particularly from AI-native customers and ongoing cloud migration trends. The company also reported strong earnings per share and raised its full-year outlook.
Datadog (NASDAQ:DDOG), a leading cloud software company specializing in monitoring and analytics, has reported impressive financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025. The company’s GAAP revenue soared to $827 million, marking a substantial 28% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure not only exceeded the high end of Datadog’s own guidance but also comfortably beat analyst estimates of approximately $791 million.
The strong performance was underpinned by a healthy demand environment, characterized by continued cloud migration and digital transformation initiatives. A significant driver of this growth has been the burgeoning demand from AI-native customers. Datadog’s co-founder and CEO, Olivier Pomel, highlighted this trend, stating, ‘AI is a tailwind for Datadog as increased cloud consumption drives more usage of our platform.’ He further noted that hundreds of customers are now part of this AI-driven group. The AI-Native segment alone now contributes 11% to Datadog’s total revenue and accounts for 10 percentage points of its year-over-year revenue growth.
Beyond revenue, Datadog also reported strong profitability. Non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.46, outpacing the consensus estimate of $0.41. The company generated $200 million in operating cash flow and $165 million in free cash flow, demonstrating effective operational efficiencies and cost management. Non-GAAP operating income reached $164 million, with an operating margin of 20%.
Customer growth remained robust, with Datadog ending Q2 with approximately 31,400 customers, up from 28,700 a year ago. Notably, the number of customers with an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $100,000 or more increased to about 3,850, up from 3,390 in Q2 2024. These high-value customers collectively generated about 89% of the company’s total ARR.
Datadog continues to innovate, having launched over 125 new features and products during the quarter, including new AI agents and enhancements to its log management suite and security capabilities. The company’s security business has also reached a significant milestone, surpassing $100 million in ARR and growing at a mid-40% rate year-over-year.
