D-ID Acquires Simpleshow for $60 Million, Forging an AI-Powered Digital Human and Video Communication Powerhouse

TLDR: D-ID, an Israeli company specializing in interactive avatars, has acquired Simpleshow, a German AI video pioneer, in a deal valued at approximately $60 million. This strategic merger aims to integrate D-ID’s advanced digital humans with Simpleshow’s corporate video products, creating a comprehensive solution for two-way, natural communication that simulates human conversation for large organizations. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in Q4 2025, pending regulatory approvals, and positions the combined entity as a leader in the rapidly growing digital human market.

In a significant move set to reshape the landscape of enterprise communication, D-ID, an Israeli innovator in interactive avatars and digital humans, has announced its acquisition of Simpleshow, a German pioneer in AI-powered video creation. The deal, valued at approximately $60 million, will see the two companies merge their cutting-edge technologies to deliver a unified solution for natural, two-way communication that mimics human interaction for large organizations.

D-ID, known for developing hyper-realistic digital humans that serve as dynamic interfaces for Large Language Models and autonomous agents, currently employs 65 people with offices in Tel Aviv and New York. Simpleshow, headquartered in Berlin with approximately 130 employees and additional offices across the U.S., is a global leader in AI-based explainer video creation, serving over 1,350 enterprise customers, including 500 Fortune 1000 companies such as Microsoft, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Mercedes, Colgate, eBay, and BMW.

The strategic rationale behind this acquisition is to integrate D-ID’s advanced AI Visual Agents and AI avatar technologies with Simpleshow’s industry-leading explainer video maker. This synergy is expected to create the most comprehensive, enterprise-grade platform for human-like video communication, revolutionizing how businesses engage with their audiences and internal teams. The combined entity aims to provide the ‘UI for the AI age,’ enabling companies to deploy fully digital employees across a wide array of corporate functions.

To finance this substantial acquisition, D-ID recently completed a fundraising round securing tens of millions of dollars. The merger is anticipated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. This consolidation is poised to establish D-ID as a global leader in the expanding $50 billion digital human market.
