According to Coursera’s 2025 Global Skills Report, the country witnessed an astounding 356% year-over-year increase in Generative AI course enrollments, significantly surpassing the global average of 195% and North America’s 135%. This surge reflects a proactive approach by the Mexican workforce to adapt to the evolving labor market.
Christian Hernandez, Coursera’s Latin America Director, emphasized the significance of this growth, stating, ‘An increase of 356% in GenAI enrollments shows people are not just aware of the future of work — they are preparing for it.’ This sentiment is further supported by the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, which indicates that 95% of Mexican companies anticipate AI tools to transform their operations by 2030, one of the highest projected rates globally. The country is also experiencing a heightened demand for tech professionals, with roles such as data analysts and scientists seeing a 47% annual increase.
Beyond Generative AI, Coursera has also reported a 94% increase in cybersecurity course registrations in Mexico, highlighting a broader trend in digital skill acquisition. The digital education market itself is experiencing robust growth, with a projected expansion at a 26% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), potentially reaching USD 125.3 billion by 2031.
