Contrails AI Secures $1 Million Pre-Seed Funding to Combat Generative AI Risks

TLDR: AI startup Contrails AI has successfully raised $1 million in a pre-seed funding round, co-led by Huddle Ventures and IAN Group. The Bengaluru-based company specializes in trust and safety technology, developing a multimodal AI engine to detect and mitigate risks posed by AI-generated content, including deepfakes, fraud, and misinformation. The fresh capital will be used to expand pilot programs in the US and EU across various industries and to further enhance its AI-powered risk governance platform.

Bengaluru-based AI startup Contrails AI has announced the successful closure of a $1 million pre-seed funding round, with investments co-led by Huddle Ventures and IAN Group. This significant capital injection, secured in October 2025, is earmarked to accelerate the company’s mission of safeguarding digital ecosystems against the burgeoning threats emerging from generative artificial intelligence.

Founded in 2023 by AI researcher and product leader Digvijay Singh and global trust and safety practitioner Amitabh Kumar, Contrails AI is at the forefront of developing an AI-powered risk governance platform. This platform is specifically designed to help internet platforms combat the complex challenges posed by machine-generated content, such as deepfakes, manipulation, fraud, misinformation, and policy violations across various media types.

Co-founder Amitabh Kumar emphasized the evolving landscape of digital safety, stating, “Trust & Safety is no longer a back-office concern; it has become a boardroom priority. At Contrails AI, we translate complex safety challenges into strategic advantages, spanning across policy, content moderation, and AI guardrailing. This allows us to build moderation and governance frameworks powered by AI, helping digital platforms scale while balancing automation and human oversight.”

Digvijay Singh, co-founder, added, “Contrails AI is our answer, an enterprise-grade solution engineered to proactively safeguard the digital communities of today and tomorrow at scale.” The company’s proprietary multimodal AI engine performs real-time analysis across video, image, audio, and text, offering a comprehensive approach to identifying synthetic media and other high-risk safety challenges.

The newly acquired funds will be strategically deployed to fuel pilot programs across the United States and European Union. These initiatives will target diverse sectors including marketplaces, media houses, financial firms, and leading digital platforms. Additionally, the investment will support enhanced research and development to refine existing models, expand domain coverage, improve detection accuracy, and strengthen compliance, explainability, and trust features crucial for enterprise adoption and regulatory requirements. Contrails AI also plans to expand its team, particularly in engineering, data science, and trust & safety expertise.

Investors expressed strong confidence in Contrails AI’s vision and technology. Sanil Sachar, Partner at Huddle Ventures, commented, “By rebuilding Trust & Safety on the internet, Contrails AI is solving one of the biggest challenges endured by today’s digital era. It is well-poised to build a product in an industry where the inflection point is arriving soon.” Ajai Chowdhry, Board Member at IAN Group and Co-Founder of HCL, lauded the team, stating, “The team at Contrails AI is tackling digital content risk with unmatched precision and enterprise-ready solutions, setting a benchmark for the industry.”
