Clara Shih, Meta’s AI Business Head, Joins HubSpot Board of Directors Amidst AI Strategic Push

TLDR: HubSpot, Inc. (NYSE: HUBS) has announced the appointment of Clara Shih, currently the Head of the Business AI Group at Meta, to its Board of Directors, effective November 3, 2025. This strategic move underscores HubSpot’s commitment to integrating advanced artificial intelligence capabilities across its customer platform, leveraging Shih’s extensive expertise in AI, enterprise software, and customer relationship management.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – HubSpot, a leading customer platform for scaling companies, officially welcomed Clara Shih, a distinguished leader in artificial intelligence, to its Board of Directors, effective November 3, 2025. The appointment expands HubSpot’s board to 11 members and signals a significant strategic enhancement of the company’s AI initiatives.

Clara Shih brings a wealth of experience in developing and scaling AI-driven solutions for global businesses. In her current role as Head of the Business AI Group at Meta, she is instrumental in building and monetizing AI products for over 200 million businesses across Meta’s vast ecosystem, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. She also oversees the product and engineering efforts for Meta’s generative AI backend platform, which supports the company’s monetization strategies.

Prior to her tenure at Meta, Shih held pivotal executive positions at Salesforce. She served as CEO of Salesforce AI, where she spearheaded the company’s expansion into generative AI, and as CEO of Service Cloud, successfully growing it into Salesforce’s largest product line. Her career also includes founding Hearsay Systems, a SaaS company focused on digital engagement for financial services professionals, which was later acquired by Yext.

HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan emphasized the significance of Shih’s appointment, stating, “Clara is a remarkable leader who deeply understands both the transformative potential of AI and the realities of how go-to-market teams operate.” This sentiment highlights HubSpot’s aim to bridge the gap between AI innovation and practical business application, particularly as the company continues to integrate AI across its marketing, sales, and service offerings to empower small and medium-sized businesses.

Clara Shih herself expressed enthusiasm for her new role, remarking, “HubSpot has a unique opportunity to help millions of scaling businesses harness the power of AI to drive growth. I’ve long admired HubSpot’s customer-first philosophy and product innovation, and I’m excited to work with Yamini, the board, and the leadership team to help shape this next chapter.”

Shih’s expertise is widely recognized; she has been named to the TIME100 AI list and Fast Company’s “Most Influential People in Technology,” and is a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from Stanford University and an M.S. from Oxford University, where she studied as a Marshall Scholar. She previously served on Starbucks’ Board of Directors from 2011 to 2023.
