CII Conclave Highlights AI’s Pivotal Role in Shaping Future Workforce and Industry

Nagpur, India – The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Vidarbha Zone recently hosted its Industry-Academia Conclave 2.0, a significant event dedicated to exploring the ‘Future of Work’ with a pronounced emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Automation, and the evolving demands for new skills. The conclave, held on July 19, 2025, brought together prominent figures from industry, academia, and research to deliberate on these critical themes.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Shree Jamdar, Chairman of CII Vidarbha Zone, followed by a thematic overview presented by Manoj Bramhe, Convener of CII Vidarbha Zone. The discussions quickly delved into the practical applications and strategic implications of AI across various sectors.

Karan Chugh, Director of Supply Chain at Amazon, delivered a keynote address, offering valuable insights into Amazon’s extensive utilization of AI and generative AI. He detailed how these technologies are being deployed for optimizing logistics, enhancing forecasting accuracy, managing inventory efficiently, and facilitating predictive maintenance. Chugh also highlighted ‘Rufus,’ Amazon’s AI shopping assistant, which personalizes product discovery and comparison for consumers.

Rishi Bal, Head of BharatGen, shed light on India’s burgeoning AI journey. He underscored the importance of ‘sovereign AI,’ emphasizing solutions that are culturally relevant and accessible to a wider population. Bal cited BharatGPT as a foundational initiative in speech technology and voice AI, projecting its potential to foster significant innovation and create new employment opportunities within the country.

Chief Guest Milind Padalkar urged students to proactively adapt to the rapid pace of digital disruption, specifically mentioning the transformative potential of technologies such as AI, 5G, and nanotechnology. His remarks stressed the imperative for continuous learning and skill acquisition to remain competitive in the future workforce.

A dedicated panel discussion on the ‘Future of Work’ was moderated by Rahul Karangale, featuring contributions from a diverse group of experts including Ramana Telidevara, Lohit Matani, Ketan Paithankar, Manoj Chandak, Nitin Rakesh, and Sheetal Kale. The panel explored various facets of how AI is reshaping industries, optimizing processes, and accelerating decision-making across different domains.
