Check Point Finalizes Lakera Acquisition, Unveiling Comprehensive AI Security Platform

TLDR: Check Point Software Technologies has completed its acquisition of Lakera, an AI-native security pioneer, to launch the world’s first end-to-end AI Security Platform. This strategic move aims to secure the rapidly evolving AI landscape, addressing new attack surfaces introduced by generative AI and autonomous agents, and expanding Check Point’s market presence in AI governance and compliance.

Check Point Software Technologies has officially announced the completion of its acquisition of Lakera, a Zurich-based AI-native security pioneer, on November 11, 2025. This strategic move is poised to redefine how enterprises secure the increasingly complex AI systems that are reshaping global business operations. The financial terms of the acquisition were approximately $300 million, although some reports indicated the terms were not disclosed.

By integrating Check Point’s robust prevention-first cybersecurity architecture with Lakera’s specialized AI-native security and adversarial testing expertise, the company is introducing what it describes as the world’s first end-to-end AI Security Platform. This platform is designed to protect the entire AI lifecycle, encompassing data infrastructure, model runtime, and the behavior of intelligent agents.

This acquisition lays the groundwork for a new category: AI Transformation Security. This innovative approach combines prevention-first defense mechanisms with AI-native guardrails, advanced red-teaming intelligence, and model-centric threat detection. It also signifies Check Point’s expansion into a burgeoning market that bridges cybersecurity, AI governance, and compliance, a sector projected to exceed USD 60 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.9% (Markets & Markets).

Nadav Zafrir, CEO at Check Point Software Technologies, emphasized the criticality of this integration, stating, “AI is transforming every business process, but it also introduces new attack surfaces. We chose Lakera because it brings AI-native security, superior precision, and speed at scale. Together we are setting the benchmark for how enterprises adopt and trust AI.” David Haber, Co-Founder and CEO at Lakera, added, “Lakera was purpose-built for the AI era, with real-time runtime security and research at its core. Joining Check Point…”

Lakera, founded in 2021 by David Haber, Dr. Mateo Rojas-Carulla, and Dr. Matthias Kraft, operates with offices in Zurich and San Francisco. The company is renowned for its AI security platform, which safeguards large enterprises and technology firms from emerging AI-related cyber risks. Lakera’s security systems are designed to adapt in real-time, leveraging its global testing group, Gandalf—the largest network for AI security testing—to continuously fortify AI systems against real threats.

The rapid adoption of generative AI is outpacing previous technological revolutions, embedding intelligent AI agents across enterprises to make trillions of autonomous decisions daily. While these agents promise exponential productivity gains, they also introduce new security vulnerabilities. As autonomous AI agents become the new weakest link in cybersecurity, accessing vast corporate datasets and executing actions, the need for robust guardrails is paramount to prevent manipulation, misinformation, and loss of control. Existing cybersecurity solutions were not built to secure this ‘Internet of Agents.’

The Check Point–Lakera platform addresses this by embedding prevention, monitoring, and AI-native detection directly into the enterprise fabric, ensuring AI remains an accelerator rather than an exposure. Check Point already offers AI-related security through its GenAI Protect service, alongside other AI-powered defenses for applications, cloud systems, and endpoints. The Lakera acquisition extends these capabilities to deliver one of the industry’s first comprehensive AI security stacks.

Upon closing, Lakera will form the foundation of Check Point’s Global Center of Excellence for AI Security, accelerating AI security research, innovation, and integration across the Check Point Infinity Platform. This solidifies Check Point’s position as a global leader in securing the AI-powered enterprise and shaping the future of AI security.
