Britive Unveils Advanced Runtime Security for AI Agent Identities

TLDR: Britive has launched new platform capabilities, including advanced runtime controls for AI agent identities, to address the security challenges posed by autonomous AI agents. This move establishes a new category, Agentic Identity and Security Platforms (AISP), extending Zero Standing Privileges and Just-in-Time access to AI-driven operations for enhanced governance and compliance.

GLENDALE, CA – September 18, 2025 – Britive, a leader in cloud-native privileged access security, has announced a significant expansion of its platform to include advanced runtime controls specifically designed for AI agent identities. This strategic move aims to tackle the emerging security blind spots created by the proliferation of autonomous AI agents within enterprise environments. The new capabilities, unveiled on September 18, 2025, are positioned to define a new cybersecurity category: Agentic Identity and Security Platforms (AISP).

The core of Britive’s new offering lies in its ability to provide granular runtime controls for both agent-to-agent (A2A) and agent-to-tool communication, utilizing frameworks such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This ensures that every action taken by an AI agent is authorized and governed dynamically. According to Britive, traditional Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions, built for human workflows, are ill-equipped to handle the scale, speed, and autonomous nature of modern AI workloads.

“The perimeter has shifted from network, to identity, and now from human to agent,” stated Art Poghosyan, CEO and Co-founder of Britive. “AI agents are already making decisions, accessing data and tools, and executing tasks autonomously, but traditional IAM and PAM weren’t built for that. Our cloud-native platform was built from the ground up on a patented foundation of Just-in-Time access, Zero Standing Privileges, and runtime authorization, making it uniquely suited to secure this new agentic layer. Securing AI isn’t a simple feature extension for legacy tools; it’s a foundational shift in security that we are built for.”

Britive’s platform extends its foundational principles of Zero Standing Privileges (ZSP) and Just-in-Time (JIT) access to AI agents. This means that permissions are provisioned with the minimum necessary access only upon request and are automatically expired after use. Ketan Kapadia, Britive’s Field CTO, emphasized the inherent advantage of their platform: “This isn’t some new feature that has to be toggled on. From the very beginning, Britive was built to authorize access at runtime. We create and provision the minimum permissions on the actual resource only upon request, then auto-expire them. Every identity managed through our platform adheres to Zero Standing Privileges. We’ve been doing this for human and non-human identities like service accounts and automated workloads. We’re simply extending just-in-time access and temporary credentials to the newest type of identity.”

The concept of an Agentic Identity and Security Platform (AISP) was defined by Aragon Research in June 2025. According to Aragon, an AISP encompasses agent identity management, data protection, operational integrity, governance, runtime enforcement, and human accountability. Britive’s new capabilities align directly with this definition, offering a unified access control plane across multi-cloud, hybrid, and SaaS environments, along with full auditability and an evidence trail for all agentic actions.

This development is particularly crucial for enterprises in highly regulated sectors such as financial services and healthcare, where robust AI governance is essential for adoption without compromising speed. “Britive’s Agentic AI Identity Security product arrives at the right time,” noted Jha, an analyst. “It brings policy enforcement, identity traceability, and runtime access controls for both agentic and human identities all in a unified platform that simplifies auditability, strengthens governance, and accelerates secure AI adoption.”
