The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), through its dedicated Centre of Education for All (BCall), recently hosted a significant ‘Train the Trainer’ workshop aimed at fostering inclusive higher education. Held from September 1st to 5th, 2025, this five-day intensive program brought together educators to enhance their capabilities in creating more accessible and equitable learning environments.
A central theme of the workshop was the exploration and integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) into pedagogical practices. Dr. Javier Fernández Molina and Dr. Mario Guillo from the Universitat d’Alacant, Spain, led a compelling session on this topic, highlighting how Generative AI can be leveraged to support diverse learning needs and innovate teaching methodologies. This focus underscores BIMTECH’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational technology and its application for social good.
Further enriching the discourse, Dr. Himanshi Tiwari and Dr. Shreya Mishra presented primary research data on the current Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Accessibility (DEIA) landscape at BIMTECH. Dr. Tiwari also provided an in-depth look into the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a foundational principle of Project AIDEdu. Project AIDEdu is an EU-funded initiative dedicated to establishing a Centre of Excellence for Accessible, Inclusive, and Digitized Management Education, demonstrating a collaborative international effort towards these goals.
The workshop curriculum was comprehensive, covering a broad spectrum of critical topics. Participants delved into understanding various aspects of disability and inclusion, the implications of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and practical strategies for implementing inclusive education within Higher Education Institutions across India and Nepal. The organizers emphasized that the workshop served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, collaborative efforts, and strategic planning among all consortium partners.
