Barrie Entrepreneur Launches AI Tool Caddie to Revolutionize Hiring and Ensure Privacy Compliance

TLDR: Barrie native Delaney Thompson, a Georgian College graduate, has co-founded Caddie, an AI-powered screening tool designed to help Canadian businesses navigate new resumé privacy legislation set for January 2026. Caddie streamlines the hiring process by efficiently parsing resumés, ensuring compliance with new laws, and reducing administrative burdens, allowing employers to focus on strategic growth. Thompson was recently recognized as the Young AI Role Model of the Year for North America.

Barrie, ON – Delaney Thompson, a local entrepreneur and Georgian College alumna, is making significant strides in the artificial intelligence sector with the co-founding of Caddie, an innovative AI-powered screening tool. Launched to address the evolving landscape of Canadian resumé privacy legislation, Caddie aims to simplify and accelerate the hiring process for businesses across the country.

The platform, set to assist companies in complying with new laws effective January 2026, tackles several key challenges in recruitment. These upcoming regulations include a requirement to follow up with candidates within 45 days, mandatory salary disclosure, and the retention of hiring records for three years. Caddie is engineered to help businesses meet these demands quickly and efficiently.

Thompson explained Caddie’s core functionality, stating, “It helps the employer cut out all of the easy-AI applications that are all AI-generated.” The tool replaces traditional, time-consuming early-stage recruiting tasks such as sifting through stacks of resumés, conducting initial screening calls, and manual candidate tracking. By parsing resumé information, Caddie presents it in a clean, user-friendly interface, allowing employers to quickly assess if candidates meet required qualifications and education criteria. “Everybody formats their resumé differently. What we do is we parse the resumé and keep it clean. Do they have the requirements you’ve asked for or the education? If you want to view their resumé, you can, but at least when you’re quickly skimming through, you can do it efficiently,” Thompson elaborated.

Caddie offers flexible integration options for businesses. They can utilize a QR code for in-person applicants submitting paper resumés, which allows for digital upload and parsing. Alternatively, the platform can link directly to a company’s Indeed web page, centralizing online applications into one accessible system. This streamlined approach not only enhances efficiency but also ensures all candidate data is stored securely and compliantly.

Thompson highlighted the significant time-saving aspect of Caddie, noting that without such a platform, employers could spend several hours weekly on administrative tasks. “This is allowing you to do it at the push of a button, and then focus on the things that are actually going to further your business or further your life,” she said. She believes that by freeing up time from mundane administrative duties, Caddie enables greater productivity, allowing individuals more time for personal pursuits and family.

The minimum viable product (MVP) of Caddie was developed in June of the previous year, a testament to the rapid advancements in AI technology. Thompson, who comes from a business background rather than technology, expressed her surprise at her journey into software development. “Five years ago, what we built would have taken years and a development team of 20 people,” she remarked, underscoring AI’s transformative power.

Thompson’s innovative work has not gone unnoticed. She recently received the prestigious Young AI Role Model of the Year for North America award at the Women in AI Summit held in Toronto in June. Reflecting on the recognition, she shared, “As a young entrepreneur, and somebody in AI, there is a lot of imposter syndrome. A lot of the people I am working with are older men who have been working in AI and technology for a really long time. This just helped keep us going on our mission. It was nice to be recognized, and I was among a lot of really cool women who are doing a lot of research.” She advocates for viewing AI as a powerful tool to simplify lives and businesses, asserting, “It is really one of the greatest tools that we could be using right now.”
