NEW YORK, September 24, 2025 — The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has announced the launch of ‘ACM AI Letters’ (AILET), a significant new open-access journal designed to accelerate the publication and dissemination of cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence. The journal is now actively accepting submissions, providing a unique platform for concise, impactful, and timely communications within the dynamic AI field.
ACM AI Letters is specifically structured to bridge the gap between traditional academic conferences and journals, which often entail longer publication timelines. Its innovative rapid peer-review model is intended to enable researchers to quickly share and engage with the latest developments, thereby fostering faster advancements across both academic institutions and industrial sectors. In alignment with ACM’s overarching commitment to open access, all papers published in AILET will be freely available to the global community, with authors benefiting from no publication charges for the initial three years.
The new publication will feature short, peer-reviewed contributions that prioritize a broad spectrum of AI topics. These include theoretical breakthroughs, significant algorithmic innovations, practical real-world applications, and critical societal implications of AI, encompassing ethical considerations, policy frameworks, and responsible AI development. Furthermore, AILET will offer a distinct venue for rigorously reviewed opinion pieces and policy briefs, facilitating prompt and informed engagement with contemporary issues that are shaping the AI landscape.
Scott Delman, ACM’s Director of Publications, emphasized the clear demand for such a publication. “Researchers across the AI spectrum have been telling us that a letters-style venue is needed to swiftly disseminate information about the latest innovations,” Delman explained. He further added, “With ACM AI Letters, we’ll be able to publish late-breaking research results, policy assessments, and opinion pieces from thought-leaders in the field. And while the peer-review will be rapid, ACM’s standing as the world’s largest computing society will ensure the most rigorous review process among academic publishers.”
