Ask Sage Introduces Advanced Generative AI Edge Platform for Defense and Government Sectors

TLDR: Ask Sage has unveiled ‘Ask Sage Edge,’ a new field-deployable generative AI solution designed for military operations in environments with limited connectivity. Developed in collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, NVIDIA, Meta, and Nutanix, the platform offers secure, real-time AI capabilities at the tactical edge, supporting critical decision-making and operational independence for government and defense agencies.

Ask Sage, a prominent provider of generative AI solutions, has officially launched its groundbreaking ‘Ask Sage Edge’ platform, a turnkey field-deployable AI solution tailored for government and defense industrial base operations. This innovative platform, developed through a strategic collaboration with technology giants Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), NVIDIA, Meta, and Nutanix, is engineered to deliver production-grade Generative AI capabilities directly to military personnel operating in challenging denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited (DDIL) bandwidth environments.

Nicolas Chaillan, CEO and Founder of Ask Sage, emphasized the platform’s transformative potential, stating, “Ever wondered how you could get the full capabilities of Ask Sage, anywhere in the world, air-gapped? From a Humvee to a ship, submarine, to an air-gapped datacenter? Well now you can! Thanks to Ask Sage Edge, you can now get access to the HPE Edge Line 8000 with 1 blade of NVIDIA H100 to run LLMs like Llama 4 and other OSS LLM options like Whisper and text-to-speech options, and sprinkle the power of Ask Sage capabilities on top of the Nutanix Kubernetes stack!”

Ask Sage Edge is built with a robust zero-trust architecture and adheres to stringent government-grade compliance standards, including FedRAMP High, DoD Impact Level 5 (IL5), IL6, and Top Secret authorizations. This ensures that classified information remains secure within designated perimeters, meeting the rigorous security demands of government and regulated industries. The platform is also cloud-agnostic and supports over 150 AI models, enabling the simultaneous processing of diverse data types crucial for modern military and defense operations.

The introduction of Ask Sage Edge addresses critical operational needs by providing unparalleled independence in environments where cloud connectivity is unreliable or unavailable, such as disaster response zones or remote border regions. This capability ensures that vital AI functions remain operational irrespective of connectivity status, facilitating real-time decision-making by processing data instantly at its point of creation, thereby eliminating delays associated with data transmission to centralized systems.

This unveiling follows earlier strategic partnerships, including a first-year, $10 million collaboration with the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) and the U.S. Army, announced in June 2025. This partnership aimed to accelerate the adoption of generative AI across all Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Ask Sage’s platform has already demonstrated its ability to empower DoD teams and contractors to deploy advanced technologies rapidly, with CEO Chaillan noting an increase in operational velocity by up to 35X.

Furthermore, Ask Sage has been deploying its Army Enterprise generative AI environment at DoD Impact Level 5, hosted on the Azure Government cloud in collaboration with Microsoft. This environment provides access to advanced models like OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Ask Sage’s comprehensive product suite, which includes tools for AI-powered chat, streamlined Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance, and deep agent research for enhanced intelligence and decision-making workflows. The Army is also working towards deploying the platform at Impact Level 6 for classified operations in the near future.
