MUNICH – Apaleo has announced a significant leap forward in hospitality technology with the launch of the industry’s first Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. This groundbreaking development, unveiled on September 23, 2025, is set to revolutionize how artificial intelligence (AI) agents connect and operate within the complex ecosystem of hotel systems.
The MCP Server acts as a universal language for AI agents, providing a standardized interface to read hotel data and perform actions across various platforms, systems, tools, and data sources. This eliminates the traditional requirement for weeks of custom coding for each vendor and use case, a long-standing challenge that has hindered the scalable deployment of agentic AI in the fragmented hospitality tech landscape.
Stephan Wiesener, co-founder and CTO of Apaleo, emphasized the impact of this innovation, stating, “With Apaleo’s MCP server, AI agents can carry out real tasks across hotel systems, from checking availability and modifying bookings, without the need for custom integrations.” He added that the server effectively moves agentic AI ‘out of the lab’ and into live hotel environments, where it can drive tangible value.
Previously, an AI agent tasked with a complex operation, such as changing a hotel booking, would need to access availability and rates from the Property Management System (PMS), check loyalty status in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, confirm with housekeeping, and create a payment link – each requiring separate, custom integrations. The MCP Server streamlines this entire process through a single, standardized interface.
Mike Rawson, CIO of citizenM, a hotel group operating on Apaleo’s platform, lauded the initiative, calling MCP ‘the great AI democratiser in hotel tech.’ Rawson further commented, ‘For me, MCP doesn’t just improve hotel operations; it fundamentally redefines how—and how fast—hotels evolve.’
