Anthropic Targets Ambitious $70 Billion Revenue by 2028 Driven by B2B AI Expansion

TLDR: AI powerhouse Anthropic is setting an aggressive financial goal, aiming for $70 billion in revenue and $17 billion in cash flow by 2028. This ambitious projection is largely fueled by the rapid adoption of its AI solutions within the business-to-business (B2B) sector, including strategic partnerships and the launch of new, cost-effective models tailored for enterprise use.

Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company, is reportedly targeting a monumental $70 billion in revenue and $17 billion in cash flow by the year 2028. This significant financial outlook, as reported by The Information and cited by IndexBox, underscores the company’s aggressive growth strategy, primarily driven by the accelerating adoption of its AI products and services in the business-to-business (B2B) market.

The company’s growth trajectory is already showing strong momentum. Reuters previously reported that Anthropic is expected to more than double, and potentially nearly triple, its annual revenue run rate in the coming year. By the end of 2025, Anthropic is reportedly on track to achieve an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $9 billion, with further targets set between $20 billion and $26 billion ARR for 2026.

For the current year, Anthropic anticipates its revenue from selling access to its AI models via an API to reach $3.8 billion. This figure is notable as it is projected to double the $1.8 billion in API sales revenue expected by competitor OpenAI, according to The Information. A key contributor to this growth is ‘Claude Code,’ which is nearing $1 billion in annualized revenue, a substantial increase from approximately $400 million in July.

Anthropic’s B2B strategy has become increasingly clear and robust in recent weeks. The company has forged significant partnerships, including a collaboration with Microsoft to integrate Anthropic’s models into Microsoft 365 applications and Copilot. Furthermore, Anthropic has expanded its alliance with Salesforce and plans to deploy its AI assistant, Claude, to hundreds of thousands of employees at major consulting firms Deloitte and Cognizant.

In terms of product development, Anthropic has focused on enhancing its offerings for enterprise clients. Over the past two months, it has introduced smaller, more cost-effective models such such as Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5, designed to appeal to businesses deploying AI at scale. The company has also expanded its specialized ‘Claude for Financial Services’ and launched ‘Enterprise Search,’ enabling businesses to connect their internal work applications directly to Claude.

Financially, Anthropic’s gross profit margin is expected to see a dramatic improvement, projected to reach 50% this year and an impressive 77% by 2028, a significant turnaround from a negative 94% last year. The company last secured $13 billion from investors in September in an oversubscribed funding round, which valued Anthropic at $170 billion. With its strong growth projections, Anthropic may seek to raise additional funds, potentially targeting a valuation between $300 billion and $400 billion.
