TLDR: The iconic Australian airline brand, Ansett, has been relaunched as Ansett Travel, an AI-powered intelligent travel platform. This new venture aims to provide personalized trip recommendations and competitive pricing by leveraging artificial intelligence, marking a significant shift from its aviation roots to a digital travel concierge service.
The renowned Australian airline brand, Ansett, which ceased flight operations in 2002 after nearly seven decades of service, has made an unexpected return. However, this revival is not in the skies but in the digital realm, as it has been reborn as ‘Ansett Travel,’ an AI-powered online travel agency. Melbourne-based tech entrepreneur Constantine Frantzeskos acquired the rights to the lapsed Ansett trademark and, in partnership with the travel startup Travlr, launched this innovative platform on July 28, 2025.
Frantzeskos envisions Ansett Travel as ‘the personal travel agent of the future,’ aiming to create an AI ‘travel concierge’ that can replace the traditional need for extensive holiday planning and searching. The platform is designed to understand individual user needs, including family requirements, budget, and past travel history, to offer highly personalized recommendations and itineraries. It integrates large language models, predictive pricing tools, and recommendation systems to streamline the booking process and provide competitive deals on flights, hotels, and holiday packages.

Ansett, once a symbol of Australian aviation known for pioneering business class in Australia and its premium service, left a lasting legacy before its collapse due to financial instability. The new Ansett Travel seeks to blend this nostalgic brand recognition with cutting-edge technology. Frantzeskos describes it as Australia’s first ‘truly AI-run travel agency,’ emphasizing its fully automated intelligence to speed up booking times and deliver tailored experiences. The platform reportedly partners with over 500 airlines and offers access to more than 3 million hotel listings, showcasing holiday deals to various global destinations such as Tokyo, Athens, Las Vegas, and Bali. This strategic pivot leverages AI to reduce operational costs, thereby enabling more competitive pricing for consumers.
